Hm, don't really like that organic rounded look of the robots. I guess it would be impossible to keep the old-school feel without it looking equally lame though...

Shoot, it already is. I downloaded the HD trailer here:

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/transformers_hd.html

Played it in my theater, (106 inches of transforming Optimus Prime! Boo-yah!) and I don't think I could've geeeked out any more than I did. LOL

Wow. From this trailer it seems like a rather frightening film to be based on a child's action toy. I guess in this day and age that's what it needs.

In the original cartoon, The transformers came to Earth and fought against each other, ignoring the humans. In this movie it looks like they are trying to take over the planet.

Loved what I saw, can't wait until next July to see it. Since I got my theater I haved pretty much stopped going to the movies, but I think I will have to make an exception for this movie.

It does look like it should sound great at home though.

That trailer is simply amazing! I echo the sentiments expresed, I really can't wait to see and hear it both in the theater and in my HT. Glad they waited till the technology is available to do the transformers in the right way, and in real time instead of animated. Watching them transform in the trailer sure brings back memories. Sigh.
BTW : Anybody seen the recently re-released version of the old 1986 movie?

All I want for Christmas is my two front seats

Looks more and more like exactly what I've been fearing, that the movie will be all about the humans with the "evil robots" secondary. There's basically nothing recognizable about any of the classic robot characters in that trailer. And being a Michael Bay movie, all of the transformation sequences will be quick-cut edited in an incoherent series of 1/4 second-long shots.

Was there really no one else in all of Hollywood available who could direct this instead?

I have no idea who Shia LaBeouf and Travis Van Winkle are, but that trailer looks pretty damn promising....

I hope that there is actually somewhat of a plotline and interesting dialogue, and not just special effects...but the trailer really has made me interested!

I dream of a better tomorrow... where chickens can cross roads and not have their motives questioned.

Shia LaBeouf is Hollywood's favorite go-to guy for the designated "teenage sidekick" character in their big budget movies. See: Charlie's Angels 2, I Robot, Constantine.

I liked this trailer and I'm hoping Bay injects an actual story behind this action. The soundtrack needs to rock here.

Yep, quiet frankly I was much more intrigued by that Mars teaser a few months back, now this "ID4" type thing just gives me a feeling I like I saw this movie already.

In the spirit of traditional Bay films, this movie is going to be the "guilty pleasure" viewing experience of the summer. Count me in!

Just wait until they reveal that the energon cube everyone is fighting over is actually an old Powerbook hidden at Jeff Goldblum's house somewhere in Berverly Hills. OH NOES WAS THAT A SPOILER?

I'm calling this one. Your beef with the transformations will be relegated to trailers only. If there's one thing Bay can actually be relied on, it's too much of a good thing. I'll bet there will be plenty of full transformation sequences.

We can wager something if you like... like my used Insectacon grasshopper kickback. :P

As for the movie sucking or not... well... Micheal hasn't made a movie I liked yet, but there's always a first time! ^_^

Considering the absolutely absurd amount of product placement in Michael Bay's last movie (seriously, why would these clones living in an underground bunker need to wear Puma sneakers and drink Aquafina?), I can only imagine how he'll go to town with this one. He's obviously got some auto manufacturers lined up for branding.

The trailer made me anxious to see it. I'm taking it for what most Michael Bay films are - big budget action movies involving shoestring plotlines and mediocre acting, accented by an amazing chase sequence brought to you in part by Ford. I'll probably see it twice, then go home and watch the 25th anniversary edition of the Transformers movie that I own.

Why do we even need "good" transformers to "protect us"? They should have just eliminated that part of the plot completely.

Yeah, the FX look cool, and I know it's more true to the original cartoons, but it seems it would have been more more interesting if it was sort of an alien war taking place on the planet with the transformers ignoring us and wreaking havok in the process.

Now that's what I call a movie.

XBOX Live: Wagmman

BFBC2: Wagman

My Second Life character looks and acts exactly like me except he can fly.

The trailer looks great to me. Could be a really neat movie, as you guys say, both in the theater and at home.

However, I also agree that I hate the style of a different shot every 1/4-second, lets hope we dont get that this time.

never take life seriously
