Had friends over with their kids, so decided to pop in the animated 'road to El Dorado' to test the new Oppo. PQ and color where absolutely stunning! Colors were vibrant and seemed to jump off the screen.

I've always enjoyed that movie, and kinda forgot about it. I think I may have to get it now so I can show it to my son. Thanks for bringing it up.

It may be my favorite animated movie. The interplay between the two stars is great!

Not only were the colours impressive, but the way the animators represented gold in a 2-D animated film (without resorting to the typical CG look) was terrific. Especially important since gold was such an integral part of the story and the culture depicted.

I gotta disagree .....Elton Johns music is what spoiled this movie me for ( bit like Randy Newman spoiling the Pixar movies for me ).....I thought Sinbad was a much better animated movie from Dreamworks.....but then i like all that mystical nonsense more than i like Elton Johns campy middle of the road music.

I liked The Lion King where Elton was reduced to the end credits but others sang his songs in the actual movie.

I agree with FoxyMulder. I found Elton John's music to be very out of place and jarring in the movie. It did not fit the theme at all. I still liked the movie though.

I also liked Sinbad, but I thought the character interplay, the script, and the plot of El Dorado was a bit better than Sinbad's (though both were better than the moronic dreck you usually see in animated movies).

Gonna have to concur here, Elton sucks.

I liked Sinbad, too, but I think I'm the only one in my family who does. My 4 year old son can't watch more than 15 minutes without losing interest.

Never said it was a good fit....I thought the whole movie sucked, excepting the music. Anyways....
