Ok, I was thinking about picking up the Sin City Unrated 2 disc set. I know the theatrical edition has a DTS soundtrack, but I can't find out whether or not the Extended cut disc has a DTS soundtrack. The back of the package lists DTS as included, but it doesn't say whether it's only on the theatrical cut. Anyone out there that has this set care to enlighten me??

I was going to buy this too.
But I'll just wait for the LPCM version (which will probably be here soon).

Well, I'm picking it up for $6.50 so that's not gonna break my bank to see the extended cut. Just hoping that I could find out whether the extra 23 minutes of footage pushed them outside of the range of having a DTS track like they did with Gladiator.

Only the theatrical cut has DTS. The re edited individual stories are DD only.

I'd still pick it up at the price you mentioned. I actually prefer the individual stories to the theatrical cut; especially if you just want to follow one story as it was written in the graphic novels.

The extended cut is hardly extended at all since they include the 7 minutes of credits for each episode in the runtime. Also, they put the end of the Big Fat Kill on The Customer Is Always Right, which is retarded.

Absolutely right. I would save your $6.50 and go elsewhere.

Didn't they cut out Carla Gugino's nude scene in this version?

NOOOOO!

The extra 23 minutes of footage should be of her, and only her, in the nude!

I'd pay far more than $6.50 to watch that!!!

well, follow up on this one. Even though the directors cut doesn't have a DTS audio track I really enjoyed the "mini story" type feel that this cut had instead of the intertwined story. Made it feel much more like a comic book feel. plus you can't go wrong with Carla

So, tell us - which version do you actually prefer?

(And I'll take Carla over J.A. anyday. Tons more maturity and true sexiness there.)

Not sure if I like any one better. If I was gonna watch the movie by myself, or just wanted to watch maybe one of the stories I would definitely choose the directors cut. However if you want to just sit down and watch a movie with friends it's nice to have one long movie for them, so probably the theatrical cut. It's a mood thing for me.

I just bought the newly released (I think yesterday) 2-disc SE Blu-ray version today. The box set it has all versions (e.g. uncut, extended...). But I couldn't see how to access the other versions of the movie besides the theatrical.

I did see a second option as a part of the play option. But that just puts the BD in a commentary type mode where they play the movie and overlay drawings. Though it does mention seamless branching. Is this the only way to see the uncut/extended version? I thought you would be given a choice before you began to play.

BDD888, for the bluray, the "Recut..." version and the theatrical version are on different discs. It is not seamless branching. Also, you mention "all versions." There are only two:
#1 = Theatrical Version; #2 = Recut, Extended, Unrated...

IM4UK,

Yes. I figured it out last night. I assumed when they said "uncut, extended, and unrated"...that there were 3 different versions of the movie when they were talking about the one "view in chronological order version".

I watched this movie first time on a rented dvd in 2006 (the theatrical version) and i liked it very much indeed...I bought the double Blu-ray with the extended version and all the special features and last night i watched the extended cut version out of curiosity. I assumed it was a longer version of the theatrical release with added scenes and not the movie itself in chunks but i was wrong. If i had known that or had i checked this forum beforehand i would have watched the theatrical version and probably enjoyed it more...
