It's on youtube. Looks like hell, but it's watchable.

Was that a whole year? Did anything happen in 2016 while I was sleeping?

Not much in the way of new discs from my list:

  • The Chimes at Midnight (1965) appeared on Criterion Blu-ray. My review.
  • Pimpernel Smith (1941) is on Blu-ray from Olive.
  • The Year of the Comet (1992) has been announced as a Twilight Time Blu-ray. Which is boggling: it is a minor box-office bomb. Which I must have.

A lot of catalog DVDs have gotten Blu-ray upgrades, which is nice. UHD discs: probably not very relevant for my catalog needs.

This is an old thread that someone resurrected. Don't know if I commented in it or not. But, this is one that I would want to see as well.

Howdy Bill,

I tried to list a few of the more interesting new BD releases and updates in this thread, along with some other "oldies" that I think are fairly good...

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/150-bl...st-wished.html

There were 4 other Hammer horror films released as double-features by Mill Creek which aren't mentioned there (yet?). As well as Salem's Lot, and the 2D/3D version of It Came from Outer Space, and also the updated Shout! edition of Carpenter's Thing.

In addition to South Pacific, I think The King & I, and Oklahoma are also relatively new to BD. South Pacific is on my "to-get" list. And I was also considering the King & I, until I read Br.com's negative review.

Feel free to chime in at the above link if you (or anyone else) have some other good catalog titles (aka "throwbacks") to recommend on Blu.

I'm still waiting for The Keep btw, on anything but VHS.

Some of the xfers in these sets are better than others, but 2016 was a pretty big year for Hammer on BD...

There are still a few noteworthy Hammer classics that have not yet been released on Blu though, including the original Horror of Dracula and Curse of Frankenstein. Both are badly in need of some sprucing imo. Hopefully they'll be in Volume 2 of Warner's Horror Classics.

A movie I've been waiting to see released for ages now is The American Way (aka Riders of the Storm).
Released in 1986, it's a crazy / borderline Sci-Fi story featuring a rogue TV crew airing from an old B-29 and crusading against a quasi fascist Presidential candidate.
It stars Dennis Hopper and Michael J Pollard, and I remember being completely fascinated by this flick.

This was my favorite all time movie as a kid growing up in the 80's. I've been waiting my entire life to relive it, but this is another one that time forgot.
