Here is my wish-list of titles not available on region 1 DVD, as well as
shorter lists of titles needing restoration or anamorphic upgrades.

Some are available on PAL, others have never even been on VHS.

Please don't bother to tell me how badly they suck. It's my list and I want
them. No point in arguing about taste.

The DVD Journal (http://www.dvdjournal.com/) has shut down, but their "missing
in action" list is still there: http://www.dvdjournal.com/extra/mia.html. It's
not being regularly updated; some of the titles have since become available.

I have added links to the TCM pages for voting. I don't know if this does any good.

* * *

These are missing on region 1:

The current region 1 letterboxed disc is single layer for 144 minutes;
pretty poor quality.

In general:

More Deanna Durbin. The rest of Errol Flynn.

Where are the McDonald/Eddy musicals? I saw in a studio interview that these are in preparation, but need a lot of work.

I'd love to see a good job done to 1941, preferably on HDM. The only VHS tape I own that I wish would come out on DVD is "Hearts of Darkness", the documentary on making Apocalypse Now.

Yes - a great documentary. Just out on DVD. HERE is the amazon link.
I will be getting it.

A couple of movies I'd like to see released are: William Wellman's "Gallant Journey" (1946) A young Glenn Ford in a biopic about early flight. Great movie - great ending.
And I want to see "The Adventures of Mark Twain" (1944). Fredric March was excellent in this hollywoodized version of Twain's life. The ending is great in this one as well.

Several important Ford pictures still lacking on DVD; his last picture "7 Women", "The Sun Shines Bright", "Wagonmaster".

I'd like to see the original premier roadshow version of The Waynamo, the LD boxset is one reason I keep the old CLD-704 around.

I'd like an anamorphic version of the Polish spectacle "With Fire and Sword".

When it comes to movies, my list is gone. Everything I knew I wanted I have. I do look forward to movies I don't know about coming out on DVD for me to discover.

But there's still a huge list of TV shows out there that aren't on DVD. Some (from the live era) probably have no hope of ever existing. But there's still tons from the tape era. But that's probably a different thread....

The ones that I want (region 1 anamorphic, of course) include North, Housekeeping, Get Crazy, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, What's the Matter with Helen, and the live version of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. I would also like to see Silent Running and Soylent Green remastered with surround sound (they are currently mono.)

I was not aware that Night Train to Munich was available on DVD. Anyone know where I can get a copy (regardless if it needs restoration)?

It's on a Madacy disc with two other titles: CAST A DARK SHADOW and THE RED HOUSE. The disc is called MYSTERY & SUSPENSE COLLECTION, isbn: 0-7786-2197-9.

Amazon shows it "currently unavailable".

You're welcome.

Thanks for fixing the link. This is the second time my cutting and pasting a link has needed to be fixed. I must investigate.

The Who Rocks America
No Moon, but an excellent show anyway.

David Lee Roth
Pure wacky genius with this big budget video.

Elton Live in Australia
I had the LD and now have the bootleg DVD. It’s a great show, but the PQ needs an extreme remastering polish up.

Captain Beyond
Live video from back in the day is up on youtube! This will become available on DVD if there is a god.

Lenny Kravitz: Alive From Planet Earth

It’s a shame this isn’t out on DVD. It so eclipses the DVD that is available.

Some Came Running, yeah, one of Sinatra's best pictures. Good score too, Elmer Bernstein as I recall. And directed by Minelli. Good picture.

Russ Meyer movies...stuff like Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!, Motor Psycho, Mud Honey, etc...

it prob won't happen..something dubious happened after he died and like his nurse or housekeeper ended up "inheriting" them...the few that are out are really expensive with bad transfers and most you can only get as an import. not really a big deal if you do a region hack...it would just be nice to see a remastered nice transfer with maybe a few extras thrown in...

There's some filters in the forum software that insert "*******" for some parts or URLs from what I can tell. For amazon you only need up to /dp/. After that it's all "fluff".

Zero Population Growth (1972). Not a great movie by any stretch but I'm a sucker for 70s dystopia and Geraldine Chaplin was just gorgeous in it.

I'm tempted to rent it from unbox on amazon. If I can find a coupon, I might splurge.
