À l'intérieur (Inside) this French horror/thriller puts the Saw series to shame, as well as every other horror/thriller/gore fest that's been out in recent years!

This is one hell of a ride not for the faint of heart.... but an absolute must see for anyone who likes this genre! By far the best horror/thriller I've seen since "The Descent". If this movie doesn't make you squirm in your seat you have no heart nor soul! It is brutal, bloody and unrelenting in assaulting your senses! What a GREAT movie!!

Plot Outline: Still grieving over her recently deceased boyfriend, a pregnant woman becomes haunted by a mysterious woman.

Some reviews from IMDB:

From 'abisio' -
"Probably the best and bloodiest thriller in cinema history"

----------------------------
From 'revscapegoat' -
"Finally, a modern horror masterpiece!
-Tense as hell!
-So much gore you'll need a f * c king rainslicker!
-Great plot!
-Superb Acting!
-Bloody vengeance! (oh yes, there WILL be blood)"

A few From RottenTomatoes:

From 'Nathan Lee' -
"Inside will be remembered as one of the most creative and flat-out engrossing horror movies to hit the scene in years."

From 'Scott Wineberg' -
" Powerfully gory, admirably unsettling, bleakly amusing, and at its best moments, the movie is deliciously suspenseful."

From 'Arrow in the Head' -
"What else can I say, INSIDE was the most rewarding horror film that I've seen in the last 5 years. It potato mashed my noggin on every level; aesthetics, characters, tension, audio/visuals, ingenuity and a swaying disregard for political correctness."

-------------------------------------

I've been looking forward to viewing this movie since I first heard about it several months ago, it was well worth the wait! Psych1 be sure to check this one out, I know you will like it!

Does it have an English track, or is it just English subtitles? I cannot watch a movie with subtitles.

An overseas friend, I had him ship it overnight (I've really been looking forward to this movie!).

No English (dubbed) track or English subtitle track; but I found an English subtitle track online.

There is very little dialog in this movie, you can pretty much watch this as is. I was so anixious to see it that I printed out the English subtitle track and just used it for reference every now and then.

I watched the movie twice, the first time as I mentioned above; before watching it the 2nd time I read through the whole subtitle track and then watch it with just the French audio track. Very easy to follow what's happening.

It's available from Amazon France now and up for Pre-order from HKFlix. The HKflix's version is suppose to have an English subtitle track. I've also read that there is a Brazilian dvd available with an English subtitle track but I've been unable to find it.

OK - I'm on it. I'm skiing in the US Rockies this month but will pick it up as soon as I get back. I like extreme but usually prefer kink to gore. I'll let you know - thanks for the tip.

for anyone picking up the R1 dvd tomorrow - the cover art is HORRIBLE. Here's a link to a sweet custom one somebody did. The first thing I'll be doing is throwing the Dimension Extreme one in the garbage.

I'd like to see what you have to say about the uncut version of "Murder-Set-Pieces"

I'd like to compare the number of times you drop the F-bomb in that review to the number of times you did in your review of "Inside".

Finally watched this, thanks for the reccomendation. Very nifty thriller, with only one really glaring misstep. In fact, the misstep is so glaring I can't help wondering if it was on purpose, though I can't see the reason why. I'm talking about the cops of course. Are they supposed to be comic relief? If so, it doesn't work. After so painstakingly maintaining a realistic approach it was kind of jarring to see such unbelievable stupidity on their part. Of course I didn't really think about it until the film was over. By the time they show up I was so absorbed in the story that I accepted the illogic of their behavior. Which I suppose is a testament to just how powerful the film is. Like Argento at his finest, its trying to make you feel, not think. And it delivers in spades.

yup -on second viewing this is a very flawed movie, but definitely does what it's supposed to do!

PS:
DO NOT RENT THIS MOVIE FROM BLOCKBUSTER

They are carrying an edited version of the film. Apparently 7 minutes chopped off.

LOL! You guys that liked this film gotta be on Crack!

This is the second 'horror' film I've rented in the last couple of weeks as a recommendation from this forum. I think it's my last. The other being Hatchet. Sorry, but everything I said bad about Hatchet, goes for this silly film as well. The people in it are morons. Especially the cops. The gore is juvinile and fake. Nothing unexpected, and nothing to make you think. Just one big splatfest. I've seen higher quality films made by 12 year olds. It reminded me of the kind of stuff you would see in one of those cheesy, really bloody, Halloween Haunted House tours.

The copy I saw was from Netflix, so I don't know if it's the edited version. It did have an English 5.1 soundtrack (as well as the original French). Of course the dubbing was as bad as everything else was about this film.

Rutgar, in my initial post I stated "an absolute must see for anyone who likes this genre!" If you do not like this genre you will not like this movie.

Do you like this genre of movies? If so I'd be interested in your recommendations of movies, in this genre, that you consider to be worthwhile viewing.

Also, if you have some great horror movies you'd recommend please list them, I'm always looking for an entertaining movie, especially a good horror movie.

Not sure if the Netflix edition is edited but if it is then you did not get to see the complete film in all it's bloody gore, although I don't believe that would change your opinion any.

I guess I didn't know that this was a particular type of 'gore' genre. When I first read this thread, I assumed it was the same genre as the 'Saw' and 'Hostel' movies. Both of which I thought were interesting, and had a certain production level value. But more importantly, had an interesting story to go along with the bloody gore which made you think, as well as make you squirm. But at this point, I must conclude that both Saw and Hostel are something completely different of the type of films you're talking about with films like 'Inside'.

Would have to agree. In a time of Saw sequels and crappy Halloween remakes, thank god movies like this exist
