When I play Star Wars Episode I DVD on my HDTV, it gets letterboxed. I realize some movies have their format different from others, but just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue, or is it my setup?

Even though your HDTV is a widescreen monitor, movies come in a variety of shapes. The black bars that you are seeing would be much larger on a 4:3 set. Star Wars (and many other blockbusters) has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 while a 16:9 set translates to an aspect ratio of approximately 1.78:1. DVD preserves the original shape of a movie which will not always be the same shape as your tv. The more DVD's you watch, the more you'll see of this.

Hope that makes sense.

Presuming you have a widescreen TV, you should have small black bars on the top & bottom due the aspect ratio. If you are saying you have black bars on the sides also, then one of your settings somewhere, probably on the DVD player, is screwed up.
