I am trying to set up a system where I can use a Samsung SIR-T150 set-top box and my S-VHS VCR to do unattended timer recording, but I have run into a slight snag.

Obviously the VCR can't tune digital channels using the current numbering scheme (i. e. 7-1 for the digital version of Channel 7), but since each digital channel also has a UHF number (i.e. Channel 52 is the UHF number for 7-1 [WLS-DT] here in Chicago, the aftrementioned Channel 7), would punching in 52 on the T150 bring up 7-1, or would I have to manually enter 7-1, thus eliminating any possibility of unattended recording?

I just set my s-vhs on input which my set top box feeds into and adjust the times to record. This way I have no problems recording the digital channels including 7-1.

I suppose it depends on the STB, but I know the DTC-100 and panasonic will go to the first subchannel (7-1, 25-1, etc.) when tuned to the actual channel.
