My Zenith 64" has only one component video -in, and I have a dvd and a hdtv cable box, so I attached the dvd to the component video -in and my cable box to the tv's vga-in, using an adapter. The dealer said he spoke to Zenith and Zenith said that the VGA-in bypasses all electronics in the tv. In other words, whatever is the original signal is what is on the screen, no upconversions to 1080i. I like that idea. So eventually, when ABC comes back to TimeWarner cable here in nyc, I will get 780p rather than 1080i. Does anyone know if this information about the vga-in on this set is true and do you agree with my reasoning?

I would check the specs myself on the zenith web site. salesmen aren't always the most knowledgable :) on most RP hdtv's the vga input limited to 480p.

does your set accept 720p? does your tuner pass 720p?

product specs here:
http://www.digitalconnection.com/Hom.../IQB64W10W.htm

says tv's hd formats are 480p and 1080i on the component and vga inputs.

you will not be able to see native 720p on that set.
