So I wonder if 21.3 is carried by any cable tv systems. Most people, except maybe the people on this forum, wouldn't even know about it. To me, the CW just lost almost all its subscribers in the Harrisburg area.

I'm sure the cable companies have the new signal. They probably get a fibre feed of the station so it didnt matter if it was on 15-1, 21-3, or mythical 66-6.

I believe I found the answer. I'm at work and checked the Directv guide online. It has channel 23 as WHP CW, so apparently they put it on a different channel. I will go home and see if I have 23 and add it to my guide. So if anyone has Directv and looking for the CW, I think its on 23 now.

Well, Directv channel 23 is WHP CW but its not in HD. Its some weird stretched format with skinny bars on the side. So anyone in the Harrisburg market with Directv lost it in HD. I won't be using 23 at all.

The formatting of the CW on 21.3 (Channel 23 on DirecTV) is definitely weird. What is puzzling is that 21-2 (22 on DirecTV) is well formatted. The CW picture is certainly not enticing. I actually won't be watching till it's back in HD with some normal formatting.

I got to see the CW on Dish yesterday and their formatting and picture on WHP 21-3 is as good as DirecTV's is bad. I don't know if Dish is receiving a different feed of 21-3 but the picture is definitely much better on Dish.

I was away from home for about 10 days and returned home yesterday. I found that DirecTV has corrected the aspect ration problems and the CW on DirecTV channel 23 looks very good.

Hoping to tap the wisdom here and receive a recommendation for an outdoor OTA antenna. Read through the posts about WHTM-DT being an antenna challenge for some. Played with antenna height on TV Fool report and at 45', that station flips from 1Edge to LOS. In a perfect world, I'd also love to capture the Baltimore channels. Any recommendations on antenna, combination of antennas, height, etc. to give me the best result?

Forget about LOS or Edge reception. In theory a signal above 0 noise margin at your location will provide good reception with the right equipment. Rerun your tvfool report with a lower more realistic height to match where you will mount the antenna. The bigger question is will the antenna have a clear view of the horizon at your mounting point? Can it clear your neighbors roofs? No big buildings or tree blocking the view?

The best of the best would be a Stellar Labs VHF high 30-2476 with a Stellar Labs UHF 30-2370 joined using a dual input RCA TVPRAMP1R pre-amp.

In order to go after Baltimore you will also need a rotor. The Channel Master CM-9521a is the most common consumer grade rotor.

Another choice for Harrisburg only would be the medium size all band combo Winegard HD7694P. If you want to go after Baltimore then the bigger Winegard HD7698P.

Use only quality solid copper cable with compression fittings.

If you order anything for MCM google for a 10% off promo code.

Thanks for the great info. How would you rate Channel Master's CM-5018 vs. the Winegard HD 7698P. My installer is pushing all Channel Master product.

Sorry, I have no experience with that line of antennas.

I am in the process of setting up to get OTA of my local channels and am looking for some help on which antenna and set up I need.

Here is my TVFool report

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...e6a44a2c80e101

I just set up an antenna in my attic but it is one a friend gave me and it is cheap. It does pull in a decent amount but I can't get local ABC which is WHTM channel 27(channel 10 on TVFool report). I know this channel is an issue looking at the previous posts in this thread. I do not need to keep the current antenna I have set up so I am fine with getting a new one that will get me what I need. The cheapo one I have is a Clear View HD Technologies "150 Mile" (lol) that has the rotor and preamp built in. I have it in the attic pointed at 338 degrees on the compass so its as close as I can get to lined up with WHTM tower. I am assuming the antenna does not have the Hi VHF I need for channel 10. The box and directions that it came with has no specs on what frequencies, etc. haha

I bought a TiVo Roamia OTA and I ran the scan on both the TiVo and a Panasonic TV and got the same results so the tuner should not be a factor as far as not getting ABC.

I am also OK with mounting the antenna outdoors. We do live in the bottom of a small valley but I intend to mount the antenna on the corner of the roof, not the peak, so it will be about 20 feet from ground level. We have a daylight basement so I put 20 feet in my TVFool report because I am guesstimating from street level that the antenna is 20 feet high.

I NEED to get ABC so that is my first priority, I can currently get NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, and CW and the secondary channels that come with them, which is great. But we watch a lot of ABC shows so it is a must.

A secondary wish list item would be to get CBS WJZ 13 (13.1) from Baltimore so I could watch Ravens games when they are blacked out on the Harrisburg CBS channel. I realize I would most likely need a rotor to do this. If I knew 100% that I would be able to get WJZ with a rotor I would do it from the start, but I don't want to go through putting a rotor on if it's only a possibility and not a definite.

IF I don't have to put the antenna up outdoors and can mount it in the attic I would do that, but looking at what it seems like I will need I am not sure it will fit (easily anyhow).

I was looking at the Channel Master CM-2020 and that seems to be about the max size I would want to go as far as outdoor. I saw the Winegard Platinum but it was 17' long and while my wife is OK with an outdoor antenna that beast may be a little too much to look at.

I am looking for suggestions on which antenna but also a I need a little antenna 101 knowledge, like what all I need as far as grounding, preamp, how a rotor gets it's power(need an outside receptacle?)....
