WCSH is having technically difficulties. Cable is OK but it's unavailable OTA and on satellite.

Thanks for the update, was wondering if something foo was going on as I haven't been able to watch Mad Money in a few days. Seems like a pretty serious problem to be down this long though!

It is curious that it is down that long. That suggests to me equipment failure with no spares on hand so they are waiting for them to be delivered. But I don't know.

Yeah someone seriously screwed up...granted cable has the bulk of viewers, but satellite and OTA have a decent number too...advertisers are not going to be happy.

WCSH claims it is a damaged cable some 400 feet up their tower.

Yikes. Damaged transmission line is probably one of the worst things that can happen to a station. Unless the station has a fully redundant transmission system, (extra transmitter/line/antenna) it's off until it's fixed.

Strange my signal level was fine until 2 days ago so not sure what to make of this post by WCSH, but as of right now it has dropped dramatically.

WCSH is, or at least WAS, on a backup antenna at reduced power while the damaged transmission line was repaired/replaced.

I'm noticing a stronger signal, although I can't say if it's back to prior levels, but here in Epping, NH, I'm able to once again watch WCSH.

Boston channels in Maine?

I'm in Gorham ME and for quite a while now I've stopped cable TV and just kept cable internet.
For tuners I have 2 HDHomerun units. One does transcoding and the older one doesn't. I get about 28 channels on my antenna. I was reprogramming the tuners and antenna a couple days ago thinking I might ditch WMC and go completely with Next PVR with Kodi. Everything went fine and as expected.
OK. Now this morning I was updating my HDHomerun unit for antenna on my android tablet, and it scans tons of extra channels. I thought something went wrong. So I tested a few and they worked. I'm getting WBZ and all the networks out of Boston and even ION and ION Life. Good signal quality, too.
I had to get to work so I couldn't play with it as long as wanted, but I'll check it out again in about an hour when I get home. Maybe I can get these channels on my main HTPC, but like I said, I just reprogrammed them a couple days ago. I wonder if these stations are just some form of atmospheric "skip" and will be gone tonight.
If anyone knows about anything new that's causing this, let me know.

Definitely atmospheric skip, a lot of fog in areas this mornings, I suspect you won't have those channels this evening.

Yup. As we expected. It must have been skip because they weren't there last night or this morning. As much as I figured this would happen, I can't help feeling disappointed.
I doubt a larger antenna would bring them back, either.

You're over a 100 miles from the towers, it would be tough to pull in those stations unless you were pretty high up.

This morning my TiVo discovered WCSH on channel six. Is it possible that WCSH is broadcasting on real channel 6 again? I live in Danville, NH and have a DB8e (UHF) and a Stellar Labs 30-2476 (VHF) in my attic. The DB8e is at the south peak and points south. The 30-2476 is in the north peak and points north. I can't imagine that I am picking up a UHF station 70 miles away through the back of my DB8e.

Sure it was that channel and not another channel far away due to atmospheric skip? They are currently still on RF 44 for me. I know sometimes I'll pick up Providence RI because of the latter...generally doesn't last long.

WCSH broadcasts on real channel 44 (UHF). It remaps to channel 6. They had technical issues several months ago. I suppose it is possible they have restored full power.

It's definitely WCSH as I had 6.1 and saw the logo. I may have to point a UHF antenna up thar to see what I see.

A generic TV Fool Report for Danville, NH (at 20 feet) shows WCSH (Real Channel 44, Virtual Channel 6) at about 12 dB at 36 degrees on a compass. While the 30-2476 is VHF HI antenna, it does have limited UHF capabilities. I don't know if there is any gain, but this is interesting. You must be hitting it just right.

I came across this article that you might enjoy: https://freetvforme.wordpress.com/20...-labs-30-2476/

All good points, but I run my antennas through an RCA TVPRAMP1Z and assume the feed coming in through the vhf input is filtered of stray uhf. When the weather turns cooler, I will point a 91xg towards wcsh and see what happens.
