Does anybody know if Cablevisions un-supported HBO-HD broadcasts with 5.1? I watched Band of Brothers Last night on the Cablevision HBO-HD feed. But I couldn't get 5.1 to work at all. I was wondering if they were saving bandwidth by not sending it? Just an FYI I am using a RCA DTC-100.

Does anybody know? Has anybody ever gotten or still get 5.1 from Cablevision HBO-HD?

It seems they carry most of the programming in Dolby Surround 2.0 on the HDTV channels. I don't recall receiving them in 5.1 mode in the past.

Are you sure that HBO was putting it out in DD5.1? Dish network passes the DD from HBO-HD through when available, but it rarely is. Showtime-HD, on the other hand, seems to do about half of their HD and widescreen upconverts with DD5.1.

Band of Brothers was in 5.1 sound on DirecTV. It watched it on Dish Network the first time it aired, and it was also in 5.1 DD.

Just before it starts it says presented in widescreen and Dolby 5.1 where available. I'm just trying to figure out if it's available.

You're lucky to get any HD from Cablevision.

Here in my part of NJ, the standard reply is that they have no plans to carry any HD. This in spite of the fact that they re-did my neighborhood for digital last fall, and they push HD at the Wiz stores they own.

The only time I have seen, or heard, actually 5.1 from Cablevision was on FOX SPORTS when they aired the Olympics.
