Per Kathy Lawson
Program Administrator
NBC 4 Columbus

"Our projected completion date for DTV has been delayed by construction problems. We do expect to be on the air with DTV by the middle of June. We will be on UHF, Channel 14.

Currently, NBC is broadcasting the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in HDTV, and some feature-length movies. NBC has not given a date when more of their programming will be in HDTV.

Thanks for your interest!"

Damm them!!!!! Columbus sucks except for WBNS (cbs). Fox and its crappy "480 widescreen" isn't due until late sept and ABC at the same time. Plus, since FOX and ABC are owned by the same company here, we only get 480p for ABC ( but they are trying to get equip for 720p) This sucks!!!!! I was really hoping for columbus to get up to standard, but ABC at 480p!!!! Thought that this would be a solution to using a bell 6000, but it looks like its still going to be columbus' only choice for HDTV networks outside of CBS. Any news on PBS here? UPN?

****ABC and FOX comments were taken from rleffler's other posting*****

WOSU the PBS station will not be up until May of next year. As far as the UPN station I don't know anything, but TitanTV.com stills says May 2002 and on the FCC's web site they have not filed for an extension.

Per Debra Grivois (NBC, WCMH):

"During our installation of our digital antenna and transmission line, it was necessary to use our back up transmitter site. Both WBNS and WCMH had to shut off their main sites for the safety of the tower crew who were working around the antenna. Both stations received numerous calls and e-mails from viewers. I suspect your message was put in that category.

Anyway, we're pretty excited about our DTV opprotunities. Right now we have a target date of August 1, but that's if the vendors who are doing the building modifications can complete their parts of the project on time. It's looking good right now. We have until November 1, but the engineers at NBC 4 want to be broadcasting in digital before the fall season starts."
