I heard on the radio today (630 KHOW) that the Denver PBS station is looking for donations to help there switch to digital. I found this information on there web site.

***************

EQUIPMENT COSTS

Transmitter $2.1 million
Antennas $450,000
Transmission lines $300,000
Microwave equipment $150,000
Support equipment $1 million
Studio infrastructure $10.9 million

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TOTAL $14.9 million

These funds will secure the future of public television for everyone in the Rocky Mountain region. Your financial contribution to this effort will make it a reality.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

YOUR FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION TO OUR DIGITAL CONVERSION WILL
ENSURE ROCKY MOUNTAIN PBS STAYS ON THE AIR

We must raise $14.9 million dollars NOW in order to meet the federally-mandated deadline for digital conversion by 2006.

Your participation is vital to preserving public television for all of Colorado. For further information on the campaign, and how your gift can be added to the fund,

PLEASE CONTACT:

Trudy Fowler, DTV Campaign Manager
Phone: 303-620-5688 or 303-892-6666

I just thought that the folks in the Denver metro area would like to know. I'm going to post this in other parts of the forum.

What's truly sad is that Denver was supposed to be converted by November 1999. They're already 2.5 years behind schedule as it is. There is no agreement on where to put the DTV antennas. The Big 3 don't care about HDTV AT ALL in the Denver market.

The only HDTV we'll be watching in Denver for the forseeable future is via satellite...
