Incidentally, Channel 26 was once an ION/PAX O&O.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
In the mid-1990s, Abry Communications (which had purchased WRGT-TV's owner, Act III Broadcasting) approached MVCT with a proposal to manage WTJC for eighteen hours a day. MVCT declined and chose instead to sell the station to Paxson Communications in 1995. Paxson kept a similar lineup for WTJC, airing religious programming in early mornings, infomercials for most of the day and worship music overnight. In January 1998, WTJC's call sign was changed to WDPX (for Dayton PaX). Accordingly, later that year, the station became a charter affiliate of Pax (now Ion Television).

In summer 1999, Paxson sold the station to ACME Communications, which dropped most Pax programming for a primary affiliation with The WB, along with syndicated programming; the previous WB affiliate was WUCT-LP (now WRCX-LP). ACME also changed WDPX's call sign to the current WBDT. WBDT maintained a secondary affiliation with Pax until mid-2004 at the latest, airing its primetime lineup (Touched by an Angel, Diagnosis: Murder, Weakest Link, etc.) on weekday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and weekend late nights from midnight to 4 a.m.

AntennaTV is on 22.3 right now. Not sure why since the launch was to be 1-1-16.
Maybe it's only a test?

Grit is now on 22.4 so it looks like WKEF will have three diginets instead of two.

Four subchannels? I guess our local networks care nothing about picture quality on the main -1 subchannel.

So does DirecTV now run fiber in Dayton from the broadcasters? If so, that would appear to confirm what I am seeing -- the picture quality of directv is now noticeably better than OTA.

If I'm not mistaken, cablecos and satellite providers receive - or can - each channel directly, hence no loss of bandwidth (PQ). The only people who will see a reduction are the minority of viewers who get the stations via OTA.

In Dayton market Satellite providers pick up the OTA signal decode the HD channel compress it and send out west to a uplink site. Time Warner has a fiber line into the station and picks up the ASI stream that is the same stream that is feed to the transmitters site. That is the reason the station can be off the air and cable still has programming.

I have Dish and when one of the local stations had an antenna outage, we were unaffected.

Many years ago, one of the engineers at WHIO told me that their facility, when it was on Wilmington, was the consolidation point for the local stations to both Dish and Directv and he indicated that they received the signals by fiber from each station.

Hope its something we don't already have in Cincy or Dayton lol. Has anyone heard if WRCX or WWRD are ever going digital? I've gotten a weak analog signal in the past here in Clermont County.

KU 36" dish / C band 8' dish no longer hooked up, 47" Vizio 3D Tv with Philips 3D Dvd player, Gateway 3.6Ghz - 2Tb computer for home theatre setup
Old style CM4228 and 91XG antennas for OTA.

Inline amp / splitter suggestion

TV Fool: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...b97d1510723788

We have Dish but want to also use OTA. We are located in Wilmington, about 2 miles from the air park on SR 134. I first hooked up our main flat panel and got pretty much all the Dayton & Cincy OTA stations. When I added a splitter so I could reconnect my stereo I lost the psuedo-religous channels but none of the others. I want to add one or two other televisions to the OTA antenna in our basement. The one will be about 30' from the drop, the other about 10'. Adding an amp to the tower is not an option.
What would be a good line / signal amp & splitter for this set up? I will probably need to connect two cables together to make the long run.
Thank you.

I just use a $20 10db. 4 output distribuion amp. from lowes at my house in sharonville. if it doesn't work you can return it. I tried a more beefier amp. in the past and the more powerful amp. actually caused me to loose channels(too much signal).

if you want more information I would suggest posting on the cincinnati avs forum. several television owners and station engineers are very active on the cincinnati forum.

Apparently WKEF 22 has been advertising the American Sports Network coming Monday Feb. 15 on 22.2. So will GetTV, which currently airs on 22.2 be going away this time?

Maybe Get TV will move to WRGT 45.4 since they only have 3 subs.

Currently, At 13:24 2/15, ASN is now up on 22.2, GetTV is gone from WKEF, WRGT hasn't changed anything.

For anyone that misses WHIO's 7 Weather Now broadcast which formally aired on 7.2, it's still available online at http://www.whio.com/videos/news/whiotv-live-news/vwy9N/ and it still looks just like it use to except the video quality seems better with the online version.

Looks like 7.2 METV is zooming lately? Why?

Have seen some pretty impressive quality for WS SD on 45.3 Comet when they show Stargate SG-1.

I know METV is available in HD but not in Dayton or Cincinnati. Maybe they are gearing up to have METV in HD.

Do they have the bandwidth? I have to do a little research, I haven't been keeping up lately. Seems like I saw mention of a new and improved OTA technology.

It's possible to add a 720p sub and have minimal effect on the main channel with current technology. WKRC TV has a 1080i main with a 720p and a 480i sub channel.
