Just checked and 43.1 is on line! Now does UPN have any HD?

Chuck,
UPN has no HD. Are they broadcasting in 4:3 or 16:9? I'm hoping 4:3 since they will have no 16:9 material to broadcast. Otherwise I'll have to be in constant zoom mode on my DTC-100 for my 4:3 display.

Strange,

My HiPix seems to have crashed this evening recording Enterprise. This is the first crash I have had recording with the new Beta software. Hmmmmm?

It looks like it is cropped a bit too. The picture quality for an upconvert seems like the worst of our channels. When I got home Smackdown was on and I compared it to my ugly analog cable broadcast and the difference seemed minimal. Nowhere near 3's quality and easily the worst of the upconverts. Of course I've only seen one show and later I saw their ACTION NEWS broadcast. (Does 19 & 43 share newscasts now? I wouldn't be surprised with Raycom, the cheapest company ever.)

To me the colors seem to be kind of washed out. Does anyone else see this? If not, I guess it's just me. I talked to Jim Kopanski the head engineer at WOIO/WUAB yesterday. I asked if they would consider broadcasting in 4:3 instead of 16:9. He said the equipment they had only allows 16:9. I also asked if they could multicast like WKYC is doing and he said they don't have the equipment for that either. I guess we should just be happy for what we have. I'll probably just keep watching the analog channel since the colors look better and I'm able to fill my 4:3 screen without zooming the letterboxed and windowboxed digital image. If they could somehow broadcast a show like Enterprise in TRUE 16:9 I would definitely watch the digital channel. Right now, Enterprise is windowboxed and DOUBLE letterboxed on my 4:3 screen. Pretty ridiculous.
