I haven't found any press releases (yet!); just TitanTV shows 4-2 as an Antenna TV affiliate starting January 1st.

The Live Well network apparently is going to cease operations nationally, come January 2015. So it's possible WOAI could be launching Antenna-TV in its place.

When I moved to the San Antonio area, I lived far enough north of the city that OTA there had problems too, so I kept the DTV. Now, however, I am moving inside the city, and because I am paying ~$235/mn. I am considering other providers of cable in San Antonio.

I need recommendations and feasibility thoughts here. I have my eye on the TiVo Roameo DVR, which has more useful function than the DTV Genie, which @ $29.95/mn. cost about the same as the Roamio after a couple of years, accepts OTA antenna input, and takes my Apple TV seamlessly. Seems like AT&T will not accept the Roamio on its system, so Time Warner seems to be the choice by elimination. Question: Is TW worth a crap stacking up against DTV and would it be appreciably cheaper? In that price I have been paying for DTV, I had most all of the movie channels, 4 HD dvr receivers ( old style) and the NFL package, which I will have to forego, I know.

Any considerations I have missed would be appreciated.
Things to check. I don't know how the Tivo Roameo works with cable, but as far as over the air, it requires a $15.00 a month subscription for the guide. You might also want to check if the subscription is mandatory. Are you looking at whole home? You might also need an internet connection, either WIFI or directly plugged in with ethernet. Here's a link where you can get all your questions answered. I've been looking at it too in case I want to cut the chord, and go over the air. Check the reviews. YOu can also ask questions, My looking into it is strictly for over the air. It might be different to use with TWC. http://www.amazon.com/TiVo-Digital-R...ds=tivo+roamio

I am a Time Warner user. I have their 20Mbps Internet service, 1 HD DVR w/500GB disc and 2 HD Non-DVR boxes. I use Vonage for 2 lines of phone service which works excellent over TWC Internet. The DVR is in the Home Theater, one HD box is in the Master Bedroom and the other in the Family Room. Additionally I have 5 more TV's (no box) connected to Cable which get about 85 channels, locals are Clear QAM and in HD. As I recall there a total of 16 Clear QAM channels. The HD boxes get hundreds of channels. Starz in included in the package. My total bill is under $139. I provide my own Motorola 6850 Cable Modem / Router.

Time Warner is non-contract provider. You can cancel the service and return the equipment and just pay for what you have used. Try it if you don't like it return it.

HD content is equal to any I have seen on Dish or Direct and it does not stop working in bad weather.

I have had a lot of frustration with their billing and slipping in price increases. I have learned to contact "cancellations" every 12 months and lock in a new price for the next 12 months, that seems to work well.

The posts I made here and on other threads are just pure speculation on just what might happen in these markets, with the FCC's crackdown on JSAs/SSAs and the impending incentive auction. Some of you may have been offended, and for that I apologize.

Kens 5.3

I wish KENS would bring back the NOAA forecast and Doppler radar image on channel 5.3. I tuned into that every morning and it was handy during storms when my internet went down.

Unhappy WOAI Channel 4 Weak Signal

About 4 days ago my signal strength went from a solid 100 percent to a fluctuating 50 percent and below. No change at all from other local stations. I live in NW San Antonio and receive my local HD with a roof mounted antenna.

Anyone else having problems?

Apologies for going off topic but I just bought a new tv and was hoping someone could recommend a good tv calibrator in San Antonio.

Thanks.

I'm having a similar problem specific to KENS 5 today and its subchannels. I'm about 45 miles SE of the towers with a roof mounted antenna and all the other SA locals are coming in fine. Even usually weaker stations (23, 41, 60) are still coming in as well as usual and all the other major network locals are as strong and solid as ever but the KENS signal is bouncing up and down like a yoyo, having trouble keeping over 50% signal, sometimes getting close to 60 but then dropping back into the low 40s and bouncing all over the place. All other locals are unchanged.

I thought maybe it was leaves growing back in some of the trees and rustling in the wind, but that wouldn't single out a particular frequency like this.

Today, HD homerun is reporting 100% signal strength and 98+% signal quality on both woai and kens. I'm on northside near 1604.

Red face

I realigned my rooftop antenna and am now getting WOAI at full strength. Seems I have to do this each spring and fall. Just recently purchased a HD Homerun and have it hooked up to an indoor antenna to get channel 35.1 the CW. Had to do this because I could not get the rooftop antenna to get channel 35 tuned in and still get the other local channels. Gives me 8 tuners in my windows media center.

I just signed a lease on a home in the Cibolo area (moving from DFW). As it's a leased property, they aren't too keen on mounting things on the roof - is there a recommendation for a larger indoor antenna I can put in the attic to get decent reception in this area? The only channels I am concerned with are the basics Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, and CW if that matters...

Thanks for the help.

You might try something like the LAVA HD-8008. It is an omnidirectional UHF/VHF antenna, although you may have to play with the positioning. I have one, but mine is mounted on the roof of a 1-story house with a low-pitch roof. It comes with an indoor power supply that will connect up to 4 TVs. I get nearly 40 channels (including digital sub-channels). I'm southwest of Harry Wurzbach/410.

WMC EPG No Data

If you happen to use WMC to watch and record TV you may have noticed your guide will expire 21 Jul 2015. This is because Microsoft has stopped using zap2it for it's guides and is now using rovi. But they haven't done SA yet. So if you are having this problem go to https://connect.microsoft.com/ log in and search under software and you will see WMC. Then search for zip code 78250 and click to add yourself as a complainant. Maybe they will fix the problem for the 8th largest city in America.

I'm using the Rovi guide and, among the major channels, it is missing:
  • KLRN
  • KSAT
  • KWEX
I submitted a bug report thru the link you provided.

I used 78205. You may have already done this, but for those who haven't, you have to re-run "Settings>General>windows media center setup>set up TV signal" in order to switch to the Rovi guide.

Not sure if you're still having this issue, but I haven't been receiving channel 4 for about the past week. Antenna is inside the house, but all other channels are coming in fine (via Tivo dvr). I'm located near the downtown area.

I got it fixed from where you quoted me, but again about 3 weeks ago my channel 4 also dropped to very low strength. I had to move my antenna to get it back up. Seems I have to redirect my antenna spring and fall for some reason.

Can anyone in the area who uses TWC tell me if Showtime (channel 551) is vertically squeezed for them? This started Sunday night, and its only the regular Showtime East Coast feed. The West Coast feed is fine. The picture is horizontally stretched, so black bars appear on top and bottom and everyones face looks fat. I checked all my settings, and every other station looks fine. Called TWC and spoke to some guy at an El Paso call center who didn't even have access to the east coast feed, couldn't get anyone who could on the line and who said that was how Showtime broadcasts. His suggestion was that I zoom the picture to get rid of the black bars, which would give me just a zoomed, cropped but still stretched picture.

Seems to be fixed as of Tuesday morning 12/1.

I just took a look and I do not have this problem. Could it be a network issue? Have you tried flushing your dns?

I've tried everything I could find to try on the web. Flushed my DNS, updated Hosts file with a different address for microsoft. Reloaded the OS. Tired all kinds of different zip codes from around SA and the US. My last thought was maybe my internet provider AT&T Uverse may be blocking the guide updates somehow.

Thanks for responding.

Did you look for anything special in event viewer? I'm running a different system that I loaded last summer to see if it will update. Right now it is showing the zap2it guide but with no data in it. It updates and says completed successfully, but still empty zap2. Better then other system that only fails. Thanks for letting me know uverse isn't blocking it. For the life of me I can't figure whats wrong. At least I can still schedule manual recordings. Reminds me of the old VCR days.

Zap2It is no longer providing guide data for WMC. Windows now uses rovi for the guide which is what the xbox one uses for its one guide. However in my experience the guide data in WMC can be hit or miss. Have you visited the green button? There's lots of useful information over there.

Did you re-setup your TV after MS changed the guide service? In media center, go to settings>TV signal>set up tv signal. You have to rerun this to get the new guides.

Ya I have done everything I can think of. Had this problem back this summer and back then tried your zip code 78205. Then it all fixed itself and worked great until 3 Dec 15 when I lost everything and spend days trying every fix I could find on the internet to include reloading with out being able to get a guide. So then I thought I would check with other San Antonio users to see if they had guides. You do so it means I have a problem somewhere. The only other thing I could do is take my computer somewhere else. But not sure how that would help. So I guess I'm just SOL for now. Thanks for your inputs.

O Happy Days

Today at 0905 I got my Media Center Guide back.

I can't believe I have been trying since 2 Dec 15 to get WMC to download the SA OTA TV info into my computer. After trying 3 different computer OS loads, I finally got the original computer load to work. I figured out yesterday that Windows Update has been put on slow motion for anything not windows 10, when it took me 1 hour and 23 minutes to just get the list of updates I needed for windows 7. So today I just kept running WMC tv setup until finally it got thru with out failure. I think all the other 200 times I tried it must have been timing out.
