Thanks for the recommendation. I'll tell my brother to try the mohu leaf antenna.

Just curious if the station staff has ever made any public pronouncements.
I am unaware of any official statements, but a number of years back an employee explain to me, that they were concern about lowering the quality of their HD signal with a sub channel on WIVB and question whether another retro type channel would get much viewership considering how many other channels with similar programming were available in the area. Also WNLO although broadcasting in 1080i, much of the programing on the CW was really in a 720p format and the quality of the video was less affected by the sub-channel. Now that was a number of years back and unofficial, so whether their reasoning has change, I don't know, but you can contact WIVB and ask them.

Not that it matters a whole lot thanks to that useless, duplicated religious station from the southtowns on the same RF channel (15) as CHCH, blocking reception for most here;

Free, abundant OTA television separates this country from many others. ATSC1 has only been in force since 2009. The wireless industry has enough spectrum. Enough of 'planned obsolesce'.

WUTV and WNYO showing ROH wrestling on TWC and OTA instead of regular programming. Subchannels unaffected.

It's probably a last minute schedule change.

Bye bye GetTV?

According to the listings (and some ads) GetTV on 49.2 has been replaced by ASN. Anyone seen any word if GetTV might end up being, say, 49.4 or even replacing one of the subs at sister channel WUTV? One of my favorite subs.

FYI, looks like WNYO may be adding another sub-channel.

Where have you seen that? Is it adding a third or replacing a sub?

The change has already occurred. 49.4 is now Get TV. I'm glad they didn't drop it. 49.2 is American Sports Net

Prior to the move all my GetTV recordings were in 4:3 pillarboxed on the screen. After the move, the movies are being stretched to 16:9. Both TV and PVR are set to record the signal as is.

Anyone else seeing this?

According to the tech support at GetTV, it should be 4:3. I hope WNYO isn't moving to stretched signals to appease folks who can't stand "those darn black bars." :-)

I call call it "stretch-o-vision".
How many medical office waiting rooms that have a LCD TV on the wall have it tuned to a analog station that's available in HD 'in the clear' and have it set to stretch that and think it is "HD" just because it fills the screen??

Sort of a sad indictment of people's knowledge or standards that they either think there's something wrong with the 4:3 ratio or don't notice the stretch looks awful. Jimmy Stewart was tall and lanky, not short and squat.

Ugh! I can't stand that! Add any auto repair shop to that list too.

I think the last time I was waiting at Mavis and saw that, I grabbed the remote and changed the ratio!

Just looking at a Western on GetTV and with the stretching, the poor horses look short'n'fat.

I realize we can force an aspect ratio change, but the point is we shouldn't have to. If a car company has knowledge of a faulty AC, they should fix it, rather than telling us to drive on the highway with our windows open.

Update on GetTV aspect ratio

Been in contact with Get. They've been in contact with WNYO. Said aspect ratio should be back to 4:3 now, but I'm still seeing 16:9 no matter what I check with (and yes, TV is set to accept signal as-is). Maybe they're waiting for the Goldie Hawn movie to end.

Update: Get is back to 4:3
