I've been unable to get WCAU-DT in Philly this week. It was fine for the Kentucky Derby (thank goodness), but by Monday night I was seeing a signal strength of zero. It still hasn't returned.

Any idea what is going on?

WCAU didn't change anything. What did change was atmospheric conditions. These conditions, caused by a major front coming through the area, made WPVI barely receivable at my house (about 25 miles away), while WCBS-56 out of New York City was perfect (about 65 miles away) with the outside antenna aimed 180 degrees away from it.

The WPVI waveform, which is normally flat on my spectrum analyzer, had multiple notches in it, indicating multipath and signal reflections not normally present.

Things should be okay now.

Thanks for the info, guys. Pete must have been right, because WCAU was working fine tonight. Oddly enough, I wasn't having any problem with WPVI, KYW, WTXF or WHYY last night, nor has WCAU ever been MIA for me due to prevailing conditions before. Glad to have it back in any case.

I stopped getting WCAU early this week. It is coming in for seconds at a time. i hope it is just a temporary signal level problem. I live in S. Jersey and always had a low level signal but it worked.

Good question. Personally, up here in the Lehigh Valley, Fox is the one Philly channel I usually get with little problems and high signal. From my perspective, I don't want them to move it!!!

Of more importance is when WCAU and UPN57 will get their new tower up and operational. From here in the Bethlehem area, I can't get a decent lock on WCAU because of the location and low transmission power of the transmitter. And UPN57 doesn't transmit digital at all right now. Of course, the only show worth watching on UPN (IMHO) is Enterprise, the rest is pure crap.

Last I heard, the new tower that will accomodate WCAU and UPN57's transmitters will be coming online in September (what happened to May 1st?)

If anyone has any information on how that's coming along or anything else they can pass along to those of us waiting with bated breath to add another channel to our antenna rotor menu, please post!!
