In the past, the Lincoln DMA has carried different NFL games than Omaha. If that's worth adding an additional antenna...

So I went to the post office this afternoon to pick up the TV Tuner that I ordered from Amazon last Thursday, and I bought and an indoor antenna from Best Buy.

Here's what I bought:
Mediasonic Homeworx HW180STB 3 / 4 Channel HDTV Digital Converter Box with Recording and Media Player (New Version)

Mohu - Leaf 50 Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna - Black/White

Over lunch I hooked those up to my system in my utility room in my basement, and I ran the auto program function on the tuner. I was pleasantly surprised to get the following 20 channels:
  1. 3.1 - KMTV - CBS Omaha (55%)
  2. 3.2 - LAFF (55%)
  3. 3.3 - ESCAPE (55%)
  4. 6.1 - WOWT - NBC Omaha (52%)
  5. 6.2 - WOWT-WX (52%)
  6. 6.3 - WOWTATV (52%)
  7. 7.1 - KETV - ABC Omaha (49%)
  8. 7.2 - KETV-ME (49%)
  9. 12.1 - NET (56%)
  10. 12.2 - NET-W (56%)
  11. 12.3 - NET-C (56%)
  12. 15.1 - CW15 - CW Omaha (72%)
  13. 15.2 - This TV (72%)
  14. 15.3 - GRIT (72%)
  15. 18.1 - KSNB - NBC Hastings/GI (46%)
  16. 18.2 - MeMy (46%)
  17. 42-1 - FOX42 - Fox Omaha (66%)
  18. 42.2 - My Net (66%)
  19. 42.3 - Comet (66%)
  20. 51.1 - KFXL - FOX Hastings/GI (52%)

I didn't have time to check the signal strength meter, but each channel I viewed on my projector looked fantastic! I'll have to do some comparisons tonight.

I do find it surprising that I was able to get all of those channels, but not a single Lincoln channel.

I put all of this together in a huge hurry, so things aren't in their final place. I threw the antenna in between 2 beams in the unfinished room, and put the tuner on my rack. I'm happy so far with the results, but I'll move things around and see if I can also pick up the Lincoln stations and maybe improve the signal strength of the channels I already have.

I'll be interested to see if I still have these channels during a storm.

Samsung TV - PN59D8000 - wall mounted
HW50ES projector w/electric Elite 120" ceiling mounted screen (drops in front of plasma)
Receiver - Yamaha RX-A3000
Front Speakers - B&W CM9, Center - B&W CMC2, Surrounds - B&W CM5
SVS PB12+, SVS PB13 Ultra

Interesting. I thought we'd get the same, but this just gives me more of a reason to get the Lincoln channels too.

It has happened, but don't recall specific games. Broncos are more West, KC more East; Vikings and Green Bay more of a toss-up.

I'm sure the antenna is UHF only which all the Omaha stations are.
Lincoln stations are on RF 8,10,12. You did get 12 according to your list. I see you get the 18 low powered station which is a translator of KSNB 4 (4-1 NBC, 4-2 Me/My)

Lincoln station would require a High VHF antenna. Something like these:

Outdoor Directional VHF-Hi TV Antenna https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014M0XXES..._-d3Uxb6W2ABND

Deep Fringe Directional Antenna VHF-Hi HDTV 174 - 230MHz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BP4KV9Y..._Je3UxbHFFM8HQ

Isn't it great to get the free signals?

You could always get one of these too for a tuner if you drop dtv:

From channelmaster.com Channel Master DVR+ CM-7500TB1

That little VHF only is cheaper from MCM Electronics
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/produc...-2475-/30-2475

The tuner he bought (the PVR180) you can add a hard drive to record. But unlike the CM the Homeworx is a 1 tuner unit with minimal EPG.
Another option over the CM would be a Series 3 Tivo with lifetime. They sell for less than what the CM does (and according to folks has a better EPG)

I edited my previous post with the signal strength for each channel. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with what I've been able to get with that indoor antenna in my basement!

I wonder if I bought a huge 8 bay (or combined two 4-bays) if I would see an increase in signal strength. The antenna I bought is amplified, and the 4 bays I've been looking at aren't, so without an additional amplifier I wonder if I'd get about the same reception. I also wonder how the reception will be in other types of weather.

Do you think I'd be able to get better reception and possibly more channels with the following antenna:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ge-ultra...&skuId=5091001

It's kind of inconspicuously mounted in the image below, and that's how I'd mount it too so I can avoid pissing off any of my neighbors.

DishNetwork already has a Cozi TV channel. I reallY do not want an other one.
What I really need is guide data for KPTM's Comet Sci Fi channel 42.3 its hard to know when to watch or record things with out it.

Does Cox Cable have Guide data for Comet TV yet? My contract will end, maybe time to switch.

not sure of cox but Tivo has it so I would assume cox does also

if you can afford it get a premier or newer TiVo no added charge for the plus pack and better than cisco hardware

no they dont
Dish carries FETV (Family Entertainment TV) which carries SOME Cozi programming. Their weekday schedule for Cozi is (all times CDT)
Noon-5 PM
7-11 PM

They may carry some other Cozi shows like Lassie and Roy Rogers but they pre-empt other shows to show them. They also have minimal weekend programing from Cozi

I don't think it has not by KETV atleast.

it would interesting to see if Cox would add it? WOWT already had a 24 Weather which cozi replaces, but KETV has only 1 subchannel on cox. should be interesting if it happens

Daystar station sold to Flood Broadcasting.....per northpine

Michael Flood is continuing to expand his broadcast holdings with the purchase of a low-power TV station in Omaha. Flood Communications of Omaha, LLC is buying KOHA-LD/48 (Omaha) from Word of God Fellowship/Daystar for $250,000. The agreement includes a provision allowing Daystar to continue running its programming on channel 48.3 at a rate of $1,000 per year. Flood Communications of Omaha also owns Spanish-language "Lobo 97.7" (KBBX-FM Nebraska City-Omaha). Flood's other companies own several low-power TV station running news and local events under the "News Channel Nebraska" name and radio stations in several other Nebraska markets.

I watch a couple shows on Daystar, so 48 getting a subchannel or two is nice to see

My guess is Telemundo or Univision or MundoMax is going to air on 48.1

by the way, Omaha wouldnt be first city to have Daystar share a channel with other networks

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...tar_affiliates

Fresno California 's Daystar channel also has MundoMax as a subchannel

as does Boise Idaho 's Daystar channel

so my guess is MundoMax will air on 48.1 and WeatherNation will air on 48.2 since Omaha 's weatherchannel recently got dropped on 6.2 for Cozi

I haven't gone with the roof mounts yet. Still doing domestic PR work. Keep in mind I am northwest of Omaha and on top of a hill.

What's going on with NETV? It had been some time, probably over a year since I last did a channel scan, but a week ago I did on the new TV for the living room and then I had picked up NETV as display 12 (presumably the channel 23 translator west of Beatrice). It did not pick up the NETV channel 33 translator at Pawnee City which I didn't think too much about as it would be almost to the side of my antenna which ispointed a bit west of north for the Lincoln stations.

Last night I ran a temporary coax through the house to the TV I moved into the computer room and ran a scan on it to pick up channel 21 and I find that NETV is now shown as channel 29. I did a scan on the living room TV and it also dropped the prior display 12 for NETV and now shows NETV at channel 29.

BTW, if Trip is reading this to update Rabbit Ears, I can receive KWBE-LD about 30 miles south of Beatrice so it is on the air. 21.1 is News Central Nebraska @ 720p and 21.2 is Weather Nation @ 480i.

Looks like the source channel for the translator was changed from KUON to KHNE.
