In the past, the Lincoln DMA has carried different NFL games than Omaha. If that's worth adding an additional antenna...

So I went to the post office this afternoon to pick up the TV Tuner that I ordered from Amazon last Thursday, and I bought and an indoor antenna from Best Buy.

Here's what I bought:
Mediasonic Homeworx HW180STB 3 / 4 Channel HDTV Digital Converter Box with Recording and Media Player (New Version)

Mohu - Leaf 50 Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna - Black/White

Over lunch I hooked those up to my system in my utility room in my basement, and I ran the auto program function on the tuner. I was pleasantly surprised to get the following 20 channels:
  1. 3.1 - KMTV - CBS Omaha (55%)
  2. 3.2 - LAFF (55%)
  3. 3.3 - ESCAPE (55%)
  4. 6.1 - WOWT - NBC Omaha (52%)
  5. 6.2 - WOWT-WX (52%)
  6. 6.3 - WOWTATV (52%)
  7. 7.1 - KETV - ABC Omaha (49%)
  8. 7.2 - KETV-ME (49%)
  9. 12.1 - NET (56%)
  10. 12.2 - NET-W (56%)
  11. 12.3 - NET-C (56%)
  12. 15.1 - CW15 - CW Omaha (72%)
  13. 15.2 - This TV (72%)
  14. 15.3 - GRIT (72%)
  15. 18.1 - KSNB - NBC Hastings/GI (46%)
  16. 18.2 - MeMy (46%)
  17. 42-1 - FOX42 - Fox Omaha (66%)
  18. 42.2 - My Net (66%)
  19. 42.3 - Comet (66%)
  20. 51.1 - KFXL - FOX Hastings/GI (52%)

I didn't have time to check the signal strength meter, but each channel I viewed on my projector looked fantastic! I'll have to do some comparisons tonight.

I do find it surprising that I was able to get all of those channels, but not a single Lincoln channel.

I put all of this together in a huge hurry, so things aren't in their final place. I threw the antenna in between 2 beams in the unfinished room, and put the tuner on my rack. I'm happy so far with the results, but I'll move things around and see if I can also pick up the Lincoln stations and maybe improve the signal strength of the channels I already have.

I'll be interested to see if I still have these channels during a storm.

Samsung TV - PN59D8000 - wall mounted
HW50ES projector w/electric Elite 120" ceiling mounted screen (drops in front of plasma)
Receiver - Yamaha RX-A3000
Front Speakers - B&W CM9, Center - B&W CMC2, Surrounds - B&W CM5
SVS PB12+, SVS PB13 Ultra

Interesting. I thought we'd get the same, but this just gives me more of a reason to get the Lincoln channels too.

It has happened, but don't recall specific games. Broncos are more West, KC more East; Vikings and Green Bay more of a toss-up.

I'm sure the antenna is UHF only which all the Omaha stations are.
Lincoln stations are on RF 8,10,12. You did get 12 according to your list. I see you get the 18 low powered station which is a translator of KSNB 4 (4-1 NBC, 4-2 Me/My)

Lincoln station would require a High VHF antenna. Something like these:

Outdoor Directional VHF-Hi TV Antenna https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014M0XXES..._-d3Uxb6W2ABND

Deep Fringe Directional Antenna VHF-Hi HDTV 174 - 230MHz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BP4KV9Y..._Je3UxbHFFM8HQ

Isn't it great to get the free signals?

You could always get one of these too for a tuner if you drop dtv:

From channelmaster.com Channel Master DVR+ CM-7500TB1

That little VHF only is cheaper from MCM Electronics
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/produc...-2475-/30-2475

The tuner he bought (the PVR180) you can add a hard drive to record. But unlike the CM the Homeworx is a 1 tuner unit with minimal EPG.
Another option over the CM would be a Series 3 Tivo with lifetime. They sell for less than what the CM does (and according to folks has a better EPG)

I edited my previous post with the signal strength for each channel. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with what I've been able to get with that indoor antenna in my basement!

I wonder if I bought a huge 8 bay (or combined two 4-bays) if I would see an increase in signal strength. The antenna I bought is amplified, and the 4 bays I've been looking at aren't, so without an additional amplifier I wonder if I'd get about the same reception. I also wonder how the reception will be in other types of weather.

Do you think I'd be able to get better reception and possibly more channels with the following antenna:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ge-ultra...&skuId=5091001

It's kind of inconspicuously mounted in the image below, and that's how I'd mount it too so I can avoid pissing off any of my neighbors.
