Who would have thought that KMCC would be off-air so quickly. They showed their face at the New Year's party, then quickly left to hide out in some dark alley.

It's time for "XMAS" on KEEN 17.7 to revert to Car2ns until the next holiday season.

KHMP continues to show "no signal" for their 18.2 and 18.3 YouToo/America One sub-channels, while AMG on 18.1 blasts along unphased. Edit: Saturday morning the "no signal" seems to have burned out on 18.3, while it burns brightly on 18.2.

It's past time for Sinclair to get accurate station ID's and logobugs on their channels. I noticed that Estrella on KSNV 3.2 still ID's as being on KVMY 21.2 at times. Other of the SInclair properties are a crap shoot whether they show a correct ID or not.

Don't expect to see the correct time, or even the correct date, on some of our local stations PSIP's. KNBX thinks it is May 10, 2109.

Wanting a strong FCC to say no to the Wireless lobby. Keep the tv broadcast band for ota television broadcasters.

I have been attempting to get Hot TV 31.4 back from its vacation, but apparently the engineer that handles it has been on vacation. So until he returns it will remain dark.
In regards to station i.d.'s, etc., i noticed that MyLvTv still runs commercials advertising their shows, Two and Half Men and Big Bang Theory, as being on MyLvTv 21.1.
In looking at today's listings I noticed that MyLvTv and ThisTV will once again switch to sports.

K41IO 41.1, Enlace, seems to have accidently locked themselves in the digital hall closet for the weekend.

KVPX 28.1 went missing about 12 noon today, and will probably stay silent for several days. They are conducting ATSC 3.0 demos at the 2015 Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show with much assistance from Samsung. Because these demos are in ATSC 3.0. they will appear as blank screens to us ATSC 2.0 viewers.

21.1 is no longer mirroring KSNV 3.1. I don't know if this is temporarily, but I liked having this mirror because I have family that simply can't get a signal on 3.1, and they were delighted to finally get it on 21.1.
Noticed this tonight. Wondering why nationally we have a football game and locally they're showing All in the Family??? 3.1 is definitely the hardest to get for me, it was nice to have 21.1 mirroring. The signal seems worse on 3.1 since the switch happened too.

Unlerss your antenna systems does not include UHF elements, KSNV should be an easier catch now than before the November switch. Prior to the switch KSNV used actual channel 2 (lo VHF), now using actuall channel 22 (UHF).

I have an indoor VHF/UHF antenna but KSNV seems to be in different direction than CBS, ABC, PBS, Fox. Utilizing VHF component of antenna I could get all fairly well in one position, now it if finicky.

History Of Televison, KNBX 31.4, returned to normalcy about noon today, after being among the missing over the weekend. Still missing are KHMP 18.2, 18.3,18.4; KMCC 34.1, 34.2,34.3; KVPX 28.1 (attending CES); and K41IO 41.1 (back by Monday primetime).

"Car2ns" has replaced "XMAS" on KEEN 17.7 today about 1pm.

Heroes & Icons is just a week away from a Vegas launch. It actually hits the airwaves Sunday evening at about 11 pm on both 13.2 and 13.3 Check your listing service, such as Titan, and you'll discover that the two feeds separate during portions of the day for different shows. KTNV will insert some repurposed material of their own on 13.2, while 13.3 will air the H&I feed 24/7, it appears at this early stage,

Other diginets hitting the airwaves this year nationally are Justice and Decades. Will either, or both, decide to affiliate with a local Vegas broadcaster? Will we see the arrival of Grit and Escape in Vegas soon? What will Sinclair do with their excess bandwidth on KVMY now that they have ceased 21.3? Will KVVU dip their toe into the diginet waters this year with something beyond their 5.2 automated weather?

"Decide to affiliate"? I'm sure both networks have called stations in Las Vegas and attempted to gain carriage. Much of this is at the station's discretion. There are definitely stations that networks tend to avoid (particularly stations that will not get them onto local cable) but if KVVU or KTNV or Sinclair said to Weigel tomorrow they wanted Decades, for example, I'm sure they'd be signed up in an instant.

That's a question that only KMCC owner Cranstan could answer. I've felt for a year that their Las Vegas repeater simply runs out of 9 volt batteries.

The local launch of Heroes & Icons takes to the airwaves about 11 pm this evening on KTNV 13.2 and 13.3. The network is a sister diginet of METV from Weigel Broadcasting, and is geared towards those who want a little western falvor or war action in their diet of tv. Las Vegas is fortunate to be among the early affiliates of this new network. Cedar City grabbed the network several weeks back, and the local Chicago channel, formerly known as MeToo, converted to Heroes & Icons recently.

Why is it on two sub-channels of KTNV? The 13.3 sub-channel will carry the 24/7 schedule of Heroes & Icons (H&I), while KTNV 13.2 will air much of the network offerings sprinkled with local KTNV material. When the listings for H&I were first posted for KTNV on Titan back near the first of January, there were times when 13.2 and 13.3 had listing for different H&I programs. That now seems to have changed to a single network feed.

So what happens to Live Well currently airing on KTNV 13.3. LWN is owned by ABC/Disney, who announced several months ago that the Mouse is pulling the plug on the networks life support system. Las Vegas loses the network this evening, while a few other affiliates will allow the network to linger a few more days. Then LWN will become history. Several of that networks programs will possibly start to appear on other networks, like Create. Mexico One Plate At A Time is already airing on both LWN and Create.

Monday morning update: 13.2 is 480i 4x3, while 13.3 is 480i 16x9.

Monday afternoon update: Thusfar, KTNV is not using their 13.2 sub for alternate or even simulcast H*I programming, as Titan had indicated. Their dot two continues to be a SD version of their main ABC and local programming.

KVPX 28.1 returned to airing Son Life's programming yesterday, after several weeks of being off and on for their Comnsumer Electronic Show demonstration of ATSC 3.0. Samsung had partnered with KVPX for the CES demo to show that a true broadcast signal could deliver the ATSO 3.0 signal.

I noticed that the telephone contact number to lease the KHDF sub-channels (19.2, 19.3, and 19.4) has changed to a local Las Vegas area code from the former Atlanta number. The new number is now showing on their billboard on each of the subs.

Shooting blanks (signal, but no programming)

From atop Mt Potosi, KHMP-18 limps along with their AMG programming on 18.1, while shooting blanks (signal, but no programming( on 18.2, 18.3 and 18.4 Also in this category falls KMCC-34, who seemingly is shhoting blanks on 34.1, 34.2, and 34.3. This looks like a studio-transmitter link problem.

The pending demise of Live Well Network is on hold, at least for a short while. ABC had intended to pull the plug on LWN this month. Many affiliates have already jumped ship and affiliated with other diginets. Now ABC and E W Scripps, partnered with KATZ (Bounce, Grit, Escape) has just announced the April launch of LAFF, a digital over-the-air broadcast comedy network. (Didn't they know they stole my idea and network name?) Anyway, ABC and Scipps will carry the new LAFF diginet, and keep Live Well in some O&O markets.

So, could we be seeing LAFF on KTNV 13.2 soon? It would seem like a good chance of that happening.

Then there's still Grit, Escape, Justice, and Decades setting up new affiliates around the country. But thusfar, not in Vegas.

Here's a link to the LAFF story: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/new...scripps/137199

If you miss the sound of the buzzer and an announcer stating "That's not a match, and the board goes back", then you may like the latest entry into the growing population of diginets. FOX Broadcasting has announced the mid 2015 launch of BUZZR on their O&O's with expansion to other stations. BUZZR will be game show driven with classic versions of the many titles that littered the tv screens of past. This would seem to suggest that KVVU 5.3 could be the future Vegas home for the BUZZR.

But KVVU is not an O&O, it's owned by Meredith. Buzz'r could go anywhere in Vegas.

Yes, you are correct that KVVU is owned by Meredith and not FOX. However, when a new diginet is offered to other station owners after first being placed on the O&O's, it is offered to the same network affiliates, then others, IMO. We will all have to wait and see if BUZZR even arrives in Vegas.

It's rare for someone to tell me that I've been quiet on this page. There just hasn't been much to post about lately. Except that KHMP 18.2, 18.3 and 18.4, and KMCC 34.1, 34.2, and 34.3 remian very quiet. Also that the KYCE-FM simulcast on KEGS 30.6 seems to have lost their logo and is stalled out on a Windows menu. And still waiting to see of Scripps will announce that their KTNV 13.2 will be included in the LAFF TV launch in April. And that several stations continue to have the wrong time and date within their PSIP's making program data appear to be wrong. Yeah, it's been quiet.

I appreciate everyone who reads this forum and posts their occasional thoughts about Vegas OTA and HDTV. There are times it appears to become my persoanl blog, but that is certainly not my intention. I'll share the microphone with anyone. I only wish we had some regular comments from the local station engineers and management people.

A couple of irritations spotted yesterday. The video on KLSV 50.2 stutters like an in-coming stream problem. The video on KEGS 30.6 has a sideways back and forth rapid shift. The video on KGNG 47.2 continues to look like a poor quality VHS dub, also like a stream issue.

Thanks to Foghorn2 CrabBoy, OTAJunkie, and CigarTimeRon and all others for recent comments here.
