Vegas Sinclair Diginets

As I have previously stated, I believe that Estrella on KSNV is the weak link for Sinclair in Las Vegas. It could be cut loose to make room for one of the coming diginets. Estrella could then be moved to one of the Hispanic outlets. I have ahunch that TBD could land on KHSV 21.1. In other markets it's a 720p signal, perhaps part of the affiliation agreement. That diginet wants their signal easy to find. Our local H&I service on 21.1 could move up a few notches to 21.5.

I work for Sinclair Broadcast Group in Engineering now. I see that Las Vegas is slated for Feb 28 roll out along with Boise and a whole bunch of other Sinclair stations.

Old School on KHMP 18.3 has traded in their stuck graphic for the Lenovo feather pc graphic. Such an improvement!

Will the last subscriber leaving Dish Network please turn off the satellite.

Issue 1: KHMP may have gotten Old School on their 18.3 back to near normal operation. No more frozen images. Now if they would just crank the volume up to normal.

Issue 2: In response to a note on the Light TV Facebook page, a Light employee states it's coming to Vegas soon. No word where it will land. KMCC certainly has the room for sub-channel enhancements, if they would keep their tranny running more that 15-20 days a year.

Issue 3: The future of broadcast television standards, ATSC 3.0, will likely be given a brief try-out during the coming NAB convention in Vegas slated for April 22-27 this year. That could occur on KLSV, as that Biltmore station has provided their facility in the past for similar testing. Elsewhere, Watch TV has received a special authorization for a short test period of the 3.0 scheme on several Portland, Oregon channels. http://www.fiercecable.com/broadcast...-0-experiments

Issue 4: Nascar roars back into town in just a few days. That will likely mean a weekend special authority to operate a tv station at the track, as in past years. That will likely be the DK02CG signal NE of downtown listed in FCC records as 75 watts.

Issue 5: KMCC is attempting to sneak back onto Vegas airwaves this afternoon. But is has a very pixelated signal that won't attrack viewers.

It should be no surprise that Old School 87.7 on KHMP 18.3 is screwed up. They are now showing colorbars over their music audio.

That because in the 80's MTV was criticized for not playing colored music

As the desert tide ebbed high this morning, KMCC-34 rode the waves back into the Valley with their three subs. The underwater tow could easily pull KMCC back from our screens.

Brush up your broadcast resumes. KPVM-46 TV & FM Pahrump is looking for several new employees. This side of the hump, one of the Vegas stations is about to gain John Langeler from KING-5 Seattle. John returns to Vegas, as this was his home during high school. He was worked at stations in Missoula, MT, Spokane and Seattle, WA, plus San Diego, CA. I'd love to see a longevity timeline for reporters and anchors on Vegas screens.
