I live in Valparaiso and am having problems with receiving signals. Has there been some change that I am not aware of? Things were ok until two weekends ago and then I started to have issues. It seems that each year when the time changes in the fall these channels seem to have problems. I have a rooftop antenna. It is a Winegard CA 7082. I called WCIU on Monday 11/27 and the lady told me to rescan. That did not make any difference. I sure hope that someone knows why this happens. Thank you ever so much.

I'm not aware of any changes to their signal since 2010. When they did a power increase in 2010, the signal was made stronger for those toward DeKalb Illinois & Kenosha Wisconsin, but weaker toward Valparaiso & Michigan City on the Indiana side. That was done when WCWW-LD was on RF 27 (companion channel to their channel 25 license), & 15kw non-directional. WCWW-LD has since gone back to RF 25, but the null toward Indiana still exists for WCIU on RF 27. If you don't have a pre-amp on your antenna, you may need to add one to get the station in better. I live over in Gary (around the same portion of NW Indiana as you), & while I have no problems with the full power stations, I have a have a pre-amp in order to get WWME-LD on RF 39, W25DW-D on RF 25, WESV-LD on RF 40, & WOCK-CD on RF 4. I don't care as much about WWME-LD since Bounce is now on WCIU 26.5, though it's still on WWME-LD 23.2 for now. My mom likes W25DW-D 25.1 for HSN, though it's now on WCPX 38.6 as well. I otherwise wouldn't know what would be causing WCIU to not come in out in Valparaiso.

I forgot to add from my post earlier, that WCIU does not have a backup antenna. So they're either on the air, or not OTA.

its almost certainly something really simple, like a loose or maybe wet/corroded cable connector...look inside each connector....if u have any splitters, replace them (or take them out temporarily, and then check the signal on whatever tv that line goes to)...

the weather or the time of year generally should have no effect, especially on full power signals like WCIU, at your distance....

so trace the whole cable path and look for obvious problems....i'll bet u'll be able to fix it with no major problems....good luck! pm me if u have problems and i'll try to help u....

ps....the CHICAGO OTA thread would be the best place to post further questions about this > http://www.avsforum.com/t/815397/chicago-il-ota

*** its high time to go back to OTA antennas and CANCEL our cable/satellite pay tv services! their greed is totally & insanely out of control! ***
