I really want to use an OTA antenna for tv reception in the Eufaula, AL area.  I would like to focus on receiving stations in the Dothan, AL area...among them WDHN (ABC), WDFX (FOX), WTVY (CBS).  AntennaPoint gauges them within 45 to 75 miles to the towers.  Is there anything that works well at those distances.  It looks to me like the Winegard SS 2000 and the DB8e might be my best bets.  Any advice out there?

Given the topography around there, I'd consider shooting for the Columbus stations instead. There are a lot of obstructions between you and Dothan. You would need an antenna that does both UHF and VHF (WTVM transmits on channel 11). You could probably also get WGIQ off the back of the antenna for Alabama Public TV. Check with your exact address and that will give you a better idea on what is possible.
