Why not just let WEAR to carry ThisTV 24/7 (or Who cares, ThisTV already suffered a little Network Decay in favor to be like MeTV) on 3.3 and WFGX to replace the time share of ThisTV with something else educational like E/I or extra ads.

Edit: AT&T removed WPAN from its local line-up today.

Any word on what's going on with WFBD? They totally disappeared from the DirecTV lineup.

Looking at their facebook page, someone from the station responded about the issue on October 22nd saying that they are "working to address the issue".

And no surprise here, WPAN has had a trouble slide for the past several days, and has NEVER aired anything resembling their schedule for months. It all appears to be paid programming. Hopefully DirecTV is next to pull the plug on them should they not be bound to carrying them.

In my opinion....stations like WPAN that can't even run their stations properly or not address issues like these have no business broadcasting on the public airwaves, and should be the first to have their spectrum stripped to someone who not only deserves it, but knows how to use it as well...

The schedule for WPAN appears to be for a subchannel carrying different programming. We get the all infomercials subchannel.

I have a question for customers of Comcast Cablevision of Mobile who currently receive their high-definition cable TV programming and have functioning digital transport adapters (from Comcast): Have any of you discovered that high-definition channel 1003 is now accessible through the adapters? If so, did the channel's programming remain on your TV screens for more than one second (the programming can only about one second on my TV set connected to a digital transport adapter since I don't have high-definition cable TV service from Comcast Cablevision of Mobile).

It's December 22nd, and WPAN is STILL off DirecTV!

Is this station still on the air anymore for anyone?

Looks like Gray is in the process of getting ready to move WJHG to RF 18.

But first, Gray has applied LP station to move WECP-LD from RF 18 to RF 29.

We now get Weather Nation on WPMI/NBC sub channel 015-02. Beats the heck out of Weather Channel on Sat.

Jerryez, it's actually been on there for a long time. Maybe a year now! The aspect ratio is all screwy but it's nice to have that available off air. DirecTV recently added the national feed of WeatherNation in HD on channel 362, and when they had their spat with Weather Channel, they put it on that channel (361) as well. I really like it better than TWC, which has become the all reality show station just like everyone else. WeatherNation is dull, plain ol' weather, nonstop.

I like how 55 aired Fox 10 during the ice storm and moved Supernatural's showing to AFTER the news. What idiot came up with that?

Well FOX 10 have to keep State of the Union Address for 2014 since it's a important live coverage that Fox News is doing along with other new programming stations/channels. Luckily, they have another station that they can air the ice storm coverage while they're airing the said event and recorded the New Supernatural and air it one hour.

I would be happy if they'd just relegate the state of the union address to PBS and C-Span instead of plastering it over all the major channels. It's a tradition, not a legal requirement.

Yeah, but I wish Fox10 could air 10pm clock news on CW55.

I don't like the idea of WALA-TV producing local newscasts for WFNA-TV ("CW55") on a regular basis since they all ready share some of the same programs and their TV market does not really need any more local TV news programs. I wish they were separate stations instead of conjoined stations and wish they would not share each other's programs. The same goes for WPMI-TV, WEAR-TV, WJTC-TV, and WFGX-TV (all four are members of the Sinclair Broadcast Group).

I tend to agree. No useful purpose is served by replaying or simulcasting the same news on sister channels. I would like to see that practice end.

WFBD is back on DirecTV as well.

Since I can't get WPAN here in Mobile, are they still even broadcasting?

I don't mind the extra newscasts but I wish the content was updated more often. There's almost zero difference in the versions between Local 15 and the UTV 44 repeat. Might as well run a taped recording!

Still, with the proliferation of web available newscasts and DVRs, we'd be better served with more entertainment content instead of rehashed old news.

It could be worse, though. Some Fox stations run local news continously from 4pm to 6:30pm. WBRC may still do that up in Birmingham...

According to this FCC Filing, WPAN is now silent with a Silent STA application, and the station is for sale.

Well, good luck to them on that. It's a regional signal in a huge (by area) TV market, and this is a pretty TV-rich area as is, as far as full power stations are concerned. About all they could do besides infomercials would be to pick up some sort of B-level programming like Antenna TV or America One if it's still around. Sadly, those types of networks don't seem to generate the kind of viewership numbers needed to support something bigger than a scrappy little LPTV station.

I think we have about as many "free" stations as the market will support.

Normally when these carriage disputes arise, my first reaction is "put up an antenna and tell them to go pound sand." But in the case of WALA and WFNA, it isn't exactly that easy. These must be the two most difficult to receive full power stations in the entire market, not counting the Daystar affiliate that runs less than 300 kW. WALA I can kind of understand, being on RF channel 9, but WFNA has no excuses but nothing I do seem to bring it in clearly from my post north of Foley.
