Have a question for my area for OTA reception.

I am a renter, so everything I do has to be reversible or at least repairable.

I have an 8 bay antenna in the attic, and a distribution amp in the basement. I currently pick up 3 or 4 channels using my TV's tuner, but am finding that really inconvenient, due to my receiver hidden in the basement and wall mounted TV... the WAF is low due to the number of button presses to get audio out from the TV.

My plans/thoughts are to get a HomeWorx 150 tuner so as to make use of the HDMI output to the receiver, and also a Channel Master 7777 preamp to put in the attic beside my 8 bay.

My TVFool profile shows the nearest transmitter to be 40 miles, and then a pile more further away.

Would my thoughts of the external HomeWorx tuner and the CM7777 work to pick up anything clearly or am I just throwing money into a bottomless pit.

The distribution amp is a channel master 3418 - 8 port - I have 2 TVs, one on the second floor and one on the main floor in the living room.
