Has anyone heard a timeline for introduction of HDTV in the Atlanta area on AT&T Broadband? Per the new regulations, they are required to start offering channels in January 2003, but no one I have spoken to at AT&T appears to even knows what HDTV is, much less when/how it will be available.
With 7 OTA HDTV stations in Atlanta, I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a STB now or wait the next fews months (or years?) for HDTV over cable. Any suggestions?

Well tomorrow, the tech will come out and examine why I (we, the entire west side of Metro Atlanta) cannot recieve CBS and NBC in HD. I will keep you informed.
Got the letter today saying the digital migration is taking affect on March 9th for central Fulton. No firm deadlines on HD but the letter says the transition will allow for more HD channels in the future. My zip is 30318.
Good to hear about WOM for 30318. I too am in 30318 but did not receive the postcard. However it's possible I'll get it today (or worse I'm in a different zone so it'll be even longer).
Also I rescanned my non-cablebox TV last night and found all the HD channels listed higher up in the thread w/no problems. Just more of a pain than anything else.
The cable guy just left and we still cannot recieve NBC and CBS in HD! His only explanation was that head end in Vinings was not sending out 73.10 and 73.30 yet. So I'll just keep re-scanning until it shows up.
Well, that's not correct - I'm on the Vinings headend in S. Cobb and receive them on channel 73 just fine (on both my dual-tuner Myth box and on my plasma and LCD). Do you have any other HDTVs, or can you check with a neighbor who does? It might just be your tuner. Or perhaps the signal level coming in, but I'm sure the tech checked that.

Did the tech hook up an analyzer to see what was coming in on the cable? Look for a seriously degraded QAM carrier at 73, or whether the .10 and .30 services appear in his analyzer. If both tests look good then my guess is there's something about the service table that is upsetting some tuners. But you'll need a real analyzer to get to that determination.

Yes the tech brought a meter to hook up to the cable output where the set was, but he w for as checking for the signal for the internet which was above 50. However I used AT&T for internet. I have a Vizio 32" and I immediately re-scanned and 73 didnot appear.
I also have a Windows 7 HTPC and have added 73.10 and 73.30 and these channels do not show up, and finally I have a PHD 250 Tuner box and when you enter channel 73 nothing happens.
Slowbiscuit, I just assumed that Douglasville and Dallas are served by the Vinings head-end, but I don,t know for sure. I will just keep up my daily scan until NBC and CBS HD return.
I'm in 30309 right in Midtown, and I just got a letter about WOM yesterday in the mail (ironically, it was shortly after I had posted something in this forum asking about it...). It says March 9, 2010 for "customers in our Central Fulton service area."
I rescanned after seeing this, I actually have both. I get the 2.1, 5.1, etc like they're supposed to be, but the channel's also there on 73.10 & 73.30! (I'm in 30309 as well)
I've had NBC and CBS on 73.30 and 73.10 respectively since this topic popped up in this forum. ABC is still 2.1, and I haven't checked Fox, but it was on 5.something last time I checked. I'm in 30135 off of Stewart Mill Rd.
Seems like their entire system is a mess. I've been waiting for a week to receive my new DVR, but it can't come soon enough. For some reason, the guide is not integrating with the DVR properly on my DCT 6416, and if I try to record something I started watching live, it targets the next program in the future for recording but only pauses the current program until the buffer fills and it starts playing on its own. Sufficiently annoying that I dusted off a VCR for the first time in almost a year.
Crud. Just called Comcast to check the shipping status on the DVR. The CS rep that took my call last week, in addition to being friendly and eager to help, apparently is very forgetful. She left great notes about the call, referencing the order to ship a new DVR to me. Buuuut... she never actually processed the order and shipped me anything. Suck. Another week of trying to keep a clean and empty DVR HDD to be ready for the swap.
The 15th has come and gone and no WoM rool out here in Lilburn (30047) Spoke to 3 different departments at Comcast and no one has any idea what I am talking about. Grr.
I thought I would post this up as I just finished programming the guide. Some of my channels are a little different than the list posted previously. I have included both lists for reference.
with few exceptions this is the differences:
Main channel #
37 = 84
38=85
39=103
40=104
41=93
42=80
43=82
44=83
86=100
I could not get it to format properly in the window so I have attached a word document. I have it saved in excel so if anyone wants it let me know. It is easier to manipulate, but you can easily cut and paste into excel from the word doc.
Also the WOM conversion has taken place here. I now have all of the WOM HD channels on my HDDVR from Comcast.
