I know this development isn't directly related to our DMA (other than areas around Lincoln, Petersburg, even within a few miles north of Springfield, etc. that can also receive Peoria channels), but have any of you heard about this big development that will be coming to Peoria as early as Monday? Quincy Media (WEEK-25.1's new owners) have bought the ABC and CW affiliations from WHOI and Sinclair (although WEEK has the JSA with WHOI since 2009). Starting Monday ABC and CW will move to new WEEK subchannels (ABC-25.2, CW-25.3), although 19.1 and 19.2 will continue for 60 more days. Sinclair is now left with WYZZ and whatever shell of WHOI is left.

http://www.cinewsnow.com/news/local/...388308022.html

Especially with the repack/spectrum auction looming (and WICS and WRSP needing new channels below 30 on the Springfield side of the market), how much longer before our DMA sees something similar involving most likely Sinclair and WICS/D, WRSP/WCCU, and WBUI. Perhaps with: WICS 20.1 in Springfield (with a new RF channel below 30 or move to RF 22 if it can still get a city-grade signal into Decatur from Mechanicsburg), Fox 20.2, and CW 20.3 (and possibly subchannels on the chopping block). Then in Champaign, WCCU 27.1 (RF 26) Fox, 27.2 ABC from WICS, and 27.3 CW. Anyone seeing that scenario playing out in a few years in our market?

Hi all,

In the last few weeks I am not getting WCIA in HD OTA. Not even 16:9.

Is there a problem with it?

Thanks

The new subchannels are now on the air. They are as follows:
WCIA 3.3 Bounce
WCIA 3.4 Grit
WCIX 49.3 Escape
WCIX 49.4 Laff

Enjoy!

Thanks but I am very disappointed. I wanted Bounce on WCIX for their comedies. I live in Chatham and can not receive WCIA. I had been excited about the possibility of getting Bounce.

Escape is garbage about murder and killing. Grit is garbage too with violence and shooting. I do not like anything on Laff either.

I like the older comedies on Me TV and Antenna TV.

SJ-R reports that WSEC has been bumped off DirectTV, not because of a carriage dispute, but because of "relocation of a satellite receiver from Springfield to an AT&T facility in Decatur." Interesting story from the SJ-R:

Will any of these new subchannels ever get added onto local Comcast lineups? And if so, will only Champaign-area customers get only the WCIA subs (Bounce and Grit), and Springfield-area only the WCIX subs (Escape and Laff), or will the full set of WCIA/WCIX subchannels be aired throughout the whole market on Comcast and most other cable systems which carry both 3 and 49?

SJ-R neglected to mention that WEIU-51 has ALSO been bumped as well...looks like D* moved the POP site for our market, from WRSP-TV, to AT&T's C.O. (If I'm not mistaken, DISH's POP is located at this same place in Decatur) D* did actually update their local channel lookup tool to reflect these missing stations. And we're STILL waiting on AT&T to add the HD feed of WCIX-49, on BOTH DTV & U-verse! (Comcast & DISH both had it up within a month of it going HD)

Pretty sad - but NOT surprising at all for AT&T/DTV - that in 2016, they couldn't do any better kind of coordination, so that it wouldn't be necessary to have this much downtime...& for TWO stations to boot!

Right now I'm watching "Charlie Brown Christmas" on WICS. There's nothing wrong with the program on the OTA 20.1 signal; however, on Comcast here in Springfield both the SD and HD feeds of WICS are carrying the Spanish dubs of Charlie Brown, most likely by mistake. Anyone else notice this on Comcast recently, not only in Springfield but perhaps in other service areas?

This also happened Thanksgiving night with an FXX rerun of the "Simpsons" that I stumbled across (but when I used the closed captioning the English translation was shown).

It's been over three months since the new WCIA/WCIX subchannels went on the air--will any of them ever appear on the Comcast lineup throughout the market? (Although Grit is still airing in Springfield on WICS-20.3 and Comcast channel 420). And if so, will Comcast systems throughout the entire market get all of the WCIA/WCIX subs, or will Champaign/Danville just get Bounce and Grit, and Springfield/Decatur just Escape and Laff?

I wonder if this new Sinclair diginet ("TBD"--that actually what it will be called) will be the replacement for Grit TV on WICS-20.3 and WICD-15.3 now that Grit is also available as a WCIA subchannel. It will be geared toward millenials.

Last night I just saw on my Comcast system (Springfield) that we now have what appears to be Comcast's "national" channel lineup on channels 1000 and above. Chicago has had this for a couple months, and there's discussion on the following link about it:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r310...ers-in-Chicago

Basically:

1000s locals/shopping
1100s news/local subchannels
1200s and 1300s sports
1400s and 1600s general entertainment (1500s skipped)
1700-1749 Children's
1750-1899 movie channels

The public access channels, Weatherscan, and Music Choice channels aren't in the 1000s yet.

The remaining SD and HD channel lineups stay as is.

I have not been able receive WCIX channel 13 over the air at two different locations in Chatham for about a month and wondered if they were having any problems with their signal.

I was watching the NFL Honors show tonight on 27.1 WCCU, and noticed I was only getting 2 channel sound, despite my receiver displaying it was receiving a Dolby Digital signal. I then checked my recording of the NFC championship from two weeks ago and it's the same thing.

This is OTA and through Mediacom cable, I tested both.

Is anyone else seeing this problem? No other station is doing this, so I know it's not my setup. If so, It will be pretty pathetic that in 2017, we can't even get the Super Bowl in surround sound.

I just posted about it to their Facebook page, and I will probably call tomorrow if I see the same thing, I urge all of you too.

I noticed today that the SD simulcast of COZI on WAND 17.3 has been replaced by ION in 4:3 SD. Additonally, @Trip in VA the channel names on Rabbit Ears should be updated as follows.

17.1: WAND HD
17.2: COZI HD
17.3: ION SD

Interesting that Cozi TV (native SD) remains upconverted to 1080i on 17.2, while ION (native 720p) has its 16:9 feed squished into 4:3 SD on 17.3. Still great to have ION back in Central IL, though it'd be nice if they get the aspect ratio correct.
