RE: Nascar on WSFA - I, too, sent an e-mail to Hoyt Andres @ WSFA concerning Nascar during the Aug 7 & Aug 14 race. He did send it to his chief engineer, Craig Young. The following is what they sent me. Now, this doesn't explain what happened during the Sep 4 race at California. That entire race was not in HD. Mr. Andres was on vacation during that time and has yet to reply with an explanation.
From Craig Young, August 17: We have been having intermittent problems with the NBC receiver that we get HD on for some time. The first week Nascar problem was cured when we reset the HD receiver. There was no warning that anything was wrong until the program came up. We have no way to look at this ahead of time until an actual HD signal comes down from the Network. The second week was a problem with the transmission from NBC coming to us. According to them bad weather at the transmission site cause the problems that day. We think we have finally found the source, last night, of the intermittent problem we have been experiencing. We are working with NBC to resolve it and hope to have it repaired for this weekend. Remember, this is new to all of us and we have to learn new troubleshooting techniques as this is totally different from analog television. The cost of converting is tremendous, so we have only 1 of everything in the chain at this time. This will improve over time but not overnight. I hope this helps explain what has been happening.
