You probably do not have a low-VHF capable antenna.

Ah you are correct. I didn't realize there was high and low VHF. 45.3 comes in fine so it doesn't matter.

Thanks.

I noticed the Kingston WRGB channel 24 translator was off the air on Friday night (9/23/2016) and still seems to be off the air today (9/24/2016).

Last time I know it was working was on 9/23/2016 around 2 PM EDT.

After one of my periodic TV rescans, I see LAFF has finally been added on 8-3, so a Fox subchannel (along with OTB still on 8-2). Cool.

Anyone having issues with 6-1 WRGB today? My signal strength is about 38% according to my TiVo.

Why is there NO perfect equipment, only compromises?

How has 14-1 through 14-8 been for the rest of you?

For me at least it seems they come in ok when channel 8-1 decides to come in. That's like 10% of the time.

Does any one know if WYBN plans to update their signal anytime soon?

New Channel 17.4?

I see a new channel appeared today, 17.4, but there is no programming so far. I hit the Info button on my TV and it displays "WMHT-Ki Programming". Maybe they are starting a "kids programming" channel?

WMHT must figure their audience values quantity over quality. Sadly, they may be right. They're already running their HD channel at the lowest bit rate of any of the local stations, around 8-10 Mbps. Next lowest is WCWN, ~10-12 Mbps, but they're running 2 HD and 1 SD channel. The other HD channels are in the 12-15 Mbps range.

It will be interesting to see how much their HD feed suffers from the added SD channel. They could probably regain a bit of quality by converting their HD channel to 720p. That's what the PBS affiliate in Tucson does. They operate 2 stations, KUAS and KUAT, with 1 HD and 2 SD channels on each. The HDs are the same, the SDs are different. PBS is 1080i and that's what they send to cable but they broadcast 720p.

Looks like some more changes for area.

ThisTV Ch 6-2 has been dropped. It has been replaced with TBD. Yes the actual channel is "TBD" The channel is made up of Millennial media crap.

Grit TV Ch 15-2 has been dropped. It has been replaced with CHARGE! Fortunately this channel seems to carry similar programing a Grit.

Prior to this change TWC has done some sneaky changes.
Ch 8-2 changing from various music video channels to eventually OTB.

TWC also decided to drop access to lowered numbered stations without notice. QVC Ch 22, NBCSN Ch 44, SYFY Ch 53, VH1 Ch 56.

It would be great if we could just scan for any OTA channel offered, and tune in the ones we like.

There are plenty out there to fulfill most peoples tv needs. If all the following was available without any problem, TWC would be history.

I here you about PBS. Drop 17.4. They run kids programming on there main feed from morning until night as it is. Use the bandwidth to make 17.3 HD. That's what everyone watches anyway.

World Channel, as carried on 17-3, is provided via satellite in SD format. Hard to make it HD when the source they're broadcasting is not in HD.

Because the PBS programming on 17-1 is being provided in an HD format over satellite. World Channel is provided in SD over satellite and is rebroadcast by WMHT with little or no local intervention.

Channel 8-2 has been OTB for a long time now, actually. But yeah, all else is recent. Also among the dropped channels by the now-former TWC (Spectrum all the way now!) is WE, formerly on Channel 65. Still on digital but dropped from basic. No great loss (mostly reality crap) except it is one less choice and I miss the L&O/L&O: CI repeats.

LAFF was added a few months back on the newly-created 8-3, though.

Even though I do have digital cable with DVR (for now), the basic channel lineup is what I watch most. The only digital channels I watch occasionally are: Animal Planet, NatGeoWild, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel, DIY. All the rest is a hit or miss. Ala carte tv is what we need.
