I understand the various stations' motivation for having all of these sub-channels -- AD REVENUE -- but as a home theater geek I'd much prefer the better picture quality possible with more bandwidth allotted for the main network feeds. I'd much rather see programs like So You Think You Can Dance and Sunday Night Football with better PQ than have some 1970's movie stripping bandwidth on a sub-channel.

Looks like Ion/50.1 is transmitting on ch 30 OTA now. I couldn't get them last night OTA, but they were on TWC. I saw an new active channel at 30 this evening on my SLM and it turns out to be Ion, squeezed between 9.1 and 29.1 on channels 29 and 31. My older Sony is mapping 50.1 to 50.6 as 30.3 to 30.8; how nice. My other tvs are still using virtual channels 50.1 to 50.6.

I don't know if anybody watched the Hall of Fame Game last night on KSHB, but HOLY PIXILATION, BATMAN!

I watched via an OTA antenna on 41.1 and it was pixilated bad. I'm assuming because of all the subchannels that KSHB added since last football season.

Other then Google TV no Cable systems here has yet Grit,Escape TV yet don't know why same with Google TV and Grim2 Newtworks have KPXE ones and maybe 4.3 This TV nobody else does yet. Nobody has KCKS-LD ones yet not even TV Listings sites showing them for OTA. CCI,Charter,Sudderlinkand so on no Mundomax,Laff TV yet. Nobody else has added Metro Weather yet/ CCI TWCSP Channels. Comcast TWCSP2 yet.
Some how 604 CCI is back to SD version of QVC and it's been that for awhile and Online Listings say Jewelry TV 694 is HD version and it's really SD version but HD version would be fine along with DIY/Cooking,MSNBC and so on.

I'm seriously thinking of signing up for Google Fiber now that it is available here in OP.

Any thoughts about the quality of the TV and internet package in general?

Are there any major issues with outages?

Does Google offer on Demand movies, etc?

Has anyone heard any rumors about potential 4K service?

TIA,
Bish

Sorry it took awhile to get back to you about Google Fiber, I do not have Google Tv although I have been thinking of getting info on it to compare my Direct tv service. I do have their fiber optics and it works find for streaming and downloading. I have not had any outages. Wish you well, keep in touch. I'm in Grandview.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've signed up for both the full tv and Internet package which is going to save me about $80/month versus my current ATT Gigapower/Directv combo.

If the Google TV portion doesn't have the quality of Directv I'll just switch back but keep Google for Internet.

New NBC station coming to St Joseph

Quote:
A new NBC broadcast station is coming to the St. Joseph market, News-Press & Gazette Co. said Wednesday.

Officials with the media company told a gathering of employees of a major new investment planned. NPG, through its subsidiary News-Press TV LLC, has reached an affiliation agreement with Comcast / NBCUniversal, the parent organization for the NBC network.

The new station serving St. Joseph and the nearby region will be known as NBC 21 KNPG and is expected to go on the air this fall.

The NBC affiliate will be operated jointly with four other local broadcast properties owned by News-Press TV. These include a FOX affiliate, FOX 26 KNPN, launched in 2012 along with entertainment network The CW, Spanish-language Telemundo and the 24/7 news and weather channel News-Press NOW.

The broadcast stations share a newsroom with the St. Joseph News-Press and newspressnow.com.

Look for KNPG to take KSHB's place on cable and satellite in St Joseph. The market still lacks a CBS affiliate though.

Google Fiber TV is great, and their DVR is even better than DirectV. I think you can record 8 shows at a time? and there's more space.

The only complaint I have about Google Fiber is the wifi is often wonky and you often have to reset the wifi on your device. I have about 5 wifi devices though.

21? So I assume CW will end up going to 21.2 and the calls changed from KBJO to KNPG.
