Has Comcast been using any non-Motorola-based boxes, like Pace or other 3rd party?

They have, but the (HD) ones they have been using, (eg: Pace RNG110's) should all be MPEG4 compatible.
Really the only HD boxes that they need to swap, are the Moto DCT & DCH series...but obviously they still have LOTS of those out there!

Interesting point...I know our system, as well as others have reported on DSLR, were "repurposing" those DCT/DCH boxes, (including DVR models) to non-HD &/or non-DVR subs, & disabling the DVR functions & HD channels. Since those subs would have no reason to go to ch 1995 to check (since they obviously have no HD service) it'll be interesting to see if CC replaces these units for these subs.
AND, is CC going to be taking those vast amounts of DCT/DCH boxes they get returned in this switch-out, THEN turn right around & (continue to) redeploy them back out to non-HD/DVR subs??? (don't laugh...CC does some bat$hit-crazy stuff, you know... )
