Whoever you talked to at TiVo gave you bad info. The software update started going out today.

Lately on some channels (all of them HD; there hasn't been anything recently that I've wanted to watch on the channels that are available only in SD here, so if it affects any SD channels, I wouldn't have noticed), when I skip forward or skip back on the DCX 3501, the audio catches up to the new point immediately but it takes a noticeable fraction of a second before the video at the new point replaces the video from the start of the skip, and it's more noticeable in skipping forward than in skipping back.

Is that an indication that the channel is in MP4?

The FCC is pushing to get an OPEN standard to allow devices to connect to cable/satellite without being forced to rent a box or CableCard. It will probably be a few years at best, and most likely never as the companies are already complaining how it will hurt innovation and other hilarious excuses.

I did get my new cable box yesterday. I plan on replacing the old DVR Saturday morning when I get caught up on everything. Hopefully, it will go cleanly. Box (DCX-3400M) looks new or fully refurbished. It has the protective film over the front panel.

Anyone have something odd happen early this morning? The box worked, but the only key that worked was INFO, and that would pop up something about entering a parental control PID. Nothing entered actually worked. Just before 7AM, the box seemed to do a soft boot and started loading the menus and other stuff.

I lost DVR functionality on my box. I called support and they said there was a system problem reported this morning, and they're sending hits to all boxes trying to get things back in order.

They had something odd happen Tuesday morning. I found my box mostly unusable. I could change channels, but the only key that really worked was INFO, and that popped up some PIN entry window. Just before 7AM, the box seemed to do a soft boot and started reloading the menus and guide data.
