They belong to WSBE and are artifacts of the UpdateTV service. You can safely delete them.

WRIW-CA signed on their digital channel on RF 50, Virtual 50.1 from the WJAR tower in Rehoboth on Friday July 20, 2012.

That was weird... I was just watching through the worm hole with morgan freemond on channel 1100 and at 1:59 pm all the sudden I was watching channel 10 nbc (channel 101o because it was in hd) giving the traffic report and local weather with their logo having a time stamp of 8:59am. Then it went back to through the worm hole during the credits.

I was recording through the worm hole on my tivo and the recording also has the channel 10 nbc. That was a rather odd glitch and time warp.

New OTA guy here with some questions. I live in Westport, MA and I am trying to get as many Providence and Boston channels as I can with new RCA ANT751R Outdoor Antenna. I had this thing mounted inside my attic but I was unalbe to get 10.1 so I put it outside on the roof using my old DTV tripod. Good news is that I now get 10.1 but I have lost 28 and 56. How picky are these antennas with the direction they are facing? From the looks of it the Prov and Boston towers are almost in the same line of sight. As of right now, I get 6,10,12, and 64. There are few channels that I also pick up that are in other languages so they dont count. Am I using the wrong antenna or do I need to raise it up higher and/or readjust it? Like I said, I am new to this OTA stuff as I recently got rid of DTV and tossed the dish off the roof!!!!

6, 10, 12, 36, and 64 all operate from the same tower cluster in North-West Rehoboth.

28, however, operates from Freetown, MA. So it is in an entirely different direction.

56 is a Boston station that doesn't put a lot of RF down south, especially where you are in Westport.

And the direction will be different enough, even for a slightly directional antenna, to need to reaim for Boston versus Providence, versus 28. (and 69, which is down in Hopkinton, RI)

Does anyone know of any profession antenna installers in the area? I have an antenna in the attic, but I have trouble pulling channel 10, and I actually get Channel 5 better than channel 6. I am coming very close to breaking down and getting cable if I can't get better reception

I live close to the corner of Almy Rd and Chase St in Somerset, Ma

Thanks!

Hi, is anyone noticing the audio mix from ABC6 being wrong? My center channel is shifting to my rear left channel on my Hopper DVR.

I recorded the same show on 6 as well as on Boston WCVB 5 and the mix is correct on the Boston feed. Any ideas on why this could happen would be great

Thanks

I don't have an answer and haven't noticed this, but it's another reason that even though I live in Pawtucket I almost always watch the Boston stations.

I have noticed that Channel 6's sound is Uncomfortable" to listen to and have been listening and watching ABC shows on Boston's channel 5 which has a much more pleasing sound. This has been going on for at least several weeks. Channel 6 Prov/New Bedford needs to wake up and listen to their own sound and then compare it to Channel 5's sound. It needs fixing somehow!

Earlier this morning, the FCC greenlighted the WLWC sell from Sinclair Broadcast Group to OTA Broadcasting. That spectrum spectator.

This has always been the case. Channel 6's picture quality barely looks HD, it nearly looks like an upscale at times. The audio is muffled compared to any other ABC affiliate. It's never going to change.

If this is the case then whay would I only get 6.1,2 and 10.1,2?

Perhaps my RCA rabbit ears can't cut it.

Recently, I have had a chance to see the Boston Red Sox win three World Series and the New England Patriots win four Superbowls. Not bad eh?

36 is the weakest signal at that location. 12 and 64 are on VHF and thus harder to receive on indoor antennas. Rabbit ears are probably the correct commercial indoor antenna for 12 and 64, but you'd have to fidget with the position.

Hello - (FCC maps attached) I was sent here by an Amazon reviewer who was disappointed with the performance of their VHS antenna.

I'm having trouble getting the local CBS and FOX in Providence. I live in the 5th floor of a 6th floor building that is a converted brick factory. Loft style apartment with SW facing very large windows and high ceilings. Unfortunately, the antenna must be within my living space. No outdoor option.

I purchased this antenna, RCA ANT1650F Flat Digital Amplified Indoor TV Antenna, and I'm able to get the green UHF channels (according to FCC map), but little to any signal for the Hi-V channels. I really only need the four networks, the NFL is starting soon!

Curiously, I'm actually to get a bad feed for WBZ, which is almost 35 miles away, before I can get WPRI or WNAC (they appear to share a tower) which is less than 8 miles away. Also, the NBC and ABC channels come in okay and that tower appears to be pretty close to the WPRI tower.

Removing the amplifier doesn't appear to help. moving it as far away from the TV and modem/router (they're next to each other) and close to a window appears to help a little.

Since the problem is the Hi-V stations, I tried the GE rabbit ear and circle antenna but that didn't fix it. Those rabbit ears don't go that high though. I'm wondering if I should try the $8 RCA rabbit ear setup? I believe those go higher and are more maneuverable...

I really don't want to go hat in hand back to cable, Sling TV is filling the void pretty well, just need the networks. Thank you for any help!

First you should go here and post your TVFool results. https://www.tvfool.com/index.php?opt...pper&Itemid=29
You are on the right path trying rabbit ears. Assuming TVFool verifies that the signals are strong at your location your best commercial indoor antenna is probably rabbit ears. With strong signals an amplifier is likely to do more harm than good so make sure that you get an antenna without an amplifier. VHF high signals are often weaker indoors than UHF and more importantly are subject to multipath propagation. This can cause a digital signal to be unreceivable even if it is strong. Normally I would suggest putting the rabbit ears in a window that faces the transmitters if that is not possible your best approach is to get a long cable and try various locations in your apartment. A home made directional indoor antenna is probably your next step and if that fails reception at your location indoors may not bve possible.

After messaging with the admins I'm moving this post to HDTV technical, and he'll eventually move it back to try and get this thread to be more active. I'm posting my TVFool results there too.
