Thanks.
I'll try, but Tribune, and TitanTV, are hard to change in a timely fashion. I would do a manual record of the half hour.

We currently can only passthrough ABC's HD signal through the flexicoder, we cannot 'record' and 'playback' content in HD.

Hey Robert, how long until the DD5.1 encoder hits the air?
I would say that 5.1 'MAY' be in place by November. Its been approved in the capital budget for our next fiscal year, but a 'purchase' date has not been set.

I promise to let everyone know when I sign the purchase order. :)

It will be on CBS. Since it is probably sold out then it will be shown in Baltimore. Since Washington is playing the Giants in NY at the same time, then the Balt game should be shown on WUSA.

All Ravens games are sold out (and have been for years) and therefore air on Baltimore TV. According to TV Guide.com, both WJZ and WUSA will air the Ravens vs. Steelers game on the 19th. The Giants/Redskins game, being a NFC vs. NFC game, will air on Fox.

Thats great news. The DD5.1 really does make a difference. You can tell the bosses that people really are looking forward to this, especially since ABC has the largest DD5.1 lineup of all the networks.

Heads-up for Comcast customers in northern MD. They quietly launched WTTGHD (Fox) about two weeks ago in Howard County and have launched WTTGHD in Harford County as of 4:30 this afternoon on ch183. The status is unchanged for Baltimore County customers as that is exclusive to the Sinclair affiliate in Baltimore and they have not granted Comcast carriage rights.

Comcast is calling current HD customers in these two counties to make them aware of this new launch.

Enjoy the 'Skins on Sunday.

Actually, it is Sinclair that's playing hardball. Comcast is just trying to serve its customers. Boy, am I mad at Sinclair. After all, it isn't just Comcast that is having problems with Sinclair. All the major cable companies, as described in other threads, are also frozen out. At least my nephew is in Harford County so I should be able to see the Super Bowl at his place.

I doubt the knowledge that most of northern Maryland is watching Fox HD via Comcast and the DC affiliate will bother Sinclair, until HD ratings make a difference in what they can charge for commercials. Then it will matter. But that is years away.

I've had problems with the Fox stations during Fox network (ie splicer) programming. But when the channels return to local control (ie 10'clock news) the reception would be very smooth again.

This is so frustrating. I'm actually quite happy with the Comcast HD offerings, but I guess I have to get an antenna to watch football on Fox. I keep thinking about holding out a bit, but it seems like the Sinclair/Comcast battle is not going to end any time soon.

I guess I'll have to look into indoor antennas, as we have a lot of trees around us. Wish me luck...

Fox45 has a pretty strong signal. If you are in Baltimore, you shouldn't have a problem receiving them.

I actually saw a thread on this elsewhere. Supposedly the NFL has a policy since 1961, that they would not play up against College or high school games. So hence, no Saturday broadcast, except in the local areas.

I'm a D* customer in Crownsville, MD. Comcast just told me that for $29.99 per month for 12 months and a $9.95 install fee, I could get an HD DVR, 8 channels of HD and 220 channel digital package. I have to give them my HD dish, though. She also said that the HD DVR is a Scientific Atlanta box.

This doesn't sound right to me. For one thing, I'm pretty sure it's a Motorola headend. Anyone heard of this offer? Is it worth it if it's the Motorola box? If it is the Mot box, it's just 1 tuner, right?

Right now I have a regular D* Tivo, but this looks like a good deal for HD DVR versus the overpriced HD Tivo.

thanks!

It's a Moto headend and would be a single tuner 6208 for a short while. They should have the dual tuner 6412 with an improved guide in 60 days and you could upgrade to that box then for no add'l charge.

The offer you received is valid and a good one. They're trialing some unique marketing ideas in this area including an all digital line-up very soon.

Great, thanks. Never thought I'd go back to cable... Called D* and they could only offer me $200 off the HD Tivo and HD for 6 mos. Not enough compared to this deal.

Just wondering....

Do we get *any* HD college football today? The ESPN game wasn't (though it was scheduled to be), the NBC Notre Dame game is SD (which boggles my mind), and so far both WJLA games have been SD. What's the story? Do our "local" teams not get any kind of headline treatment any more?

My gf doesn't care about NC or UVa, she'll watch any game as long as it's in HD :)

Both ESPN games this evening and tonight are in HD.

ABC shows no games in HD yet, as far as I know it will just be the bowl games.

CBS will start the SEC next week in HD.

US Open Tennis also in HD on CBS.

Don't forget if you have Comcast that they have the NFL Network On Demand 10-minute game recaps for free, so the Dolphins will probably be on there tomorrow.

Yeah, spoke too soon. Enjoying both ESPN games tonight in HD. Every time I'd flip back to WJLA, my girlfriend would exclaim, "What are you doing, this one isn't in HD! We don't watch non-HD!" Yeah....maybe she is just dating me for my TV :)

the hd tivo guide doesnt list the skins game this weekend as a HD game so i'm kinda bummed about that. I hoping that they just didnt list it. In fact the guide doesnt list any of the 3 games shown on local channels today as HD games (B-more, Wash, and the Phili game.) If anyone has other information please let us know.
