I'm sure some of you may have heard the news already. Katz Broadcasting signed a major deal with Nexstar Broadcasting, Mission Broadcasting and White Knight Broadcasting for Bounce TV, Laff, Grit and Escape.

At the moment, Ramar Communications has Laff and Escape on KMYL-LD, Raycom Media has Grit on KCBD-DT and DTV America has Bounce TV on KNKC-LD. I'm guessing when the contracts expire these will move over to KLBK and KAMC.

Nothing has been said at work about us picking up these digital networks. I'll talk with the engineers and see what I can find out.

Here is more on the deal: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/new...markets/157330

Our chief engineer gave everyone a brief update during our recent employee meeting. He said equipment is on the way so we can add a .2 and .3 channel to the KLBK and KAMC signals. He said we're getting Bounce TV back, along with Laff, Grit and Escape. The plan is for them to be up and running around September 1. There was no mention as to which channel is getting which digital network.

Now the question is what will be happening to the KCBD 11.3, KMYL 14.2 & 14.3 and KNKC 29.5 channels? It would be nice to see Antenna TV, Cozi TV, Decades or Comet show up in Lubbock.

Thx for the update! I agree with your choice of new additions as well! I've watched them in other markets and would like to see them in Lubbock!

I'm not sure if anyone has ever mentioned this before on here but the FETV channel on AT&T Uverse (578) and on Dish Network (82) simulcasts a good bit of Cozi TV during the day.

I'd rather have our own affiliate here in Lubbock though.

The last update was the diginets should be up by September 1, if not sooner. I still don't know if we're getting all four of them or just certain ones.

Our next monthly staff meeting is this afternoon. Hopefully the chief engineer will give us an update and I'll have more to share.

The diginets should be up on KAMC and KLBK on September 1, maybe a bit sooner. The general manager said we're getting all four diginets. Two will go on KLBK and two on KAMC. There was no mention as to which diginets are going on which station. We'll all have to wait and see.

The KAMC and KLBK diginets are up as of 8:00 Friday evening. Unless any changes are made here is the lineup so far:

13.1 CBS
13.2 Laff

28.1 ABC
28.2 Escape
28.3 Bounce TV

Note:
Ramar still has Laff on 14.2 and Escape on 14.3 as of Friday evening. DTV America still has Bounce TV on 29.5 as well. These may change over the weekend or next week.

Also Grit is still on 11.3 this evening. I'm not sure if Raycom is keeping it or it will show up on 13.3 eventually.

DTV America finally pulled Bounce TV off KNKC-LD 29.5 and has replaced it with The Country Network. They must have changed it today because it was still Bounce TV yesterday.

Also an update on Grit. We were told it will move over to KLBK 13.3 when their contract is up with Raycom (KCBD) at a future date.

Anybody in the Lubbock DMA using a TiVo Premiere or TiVo HD to record OTA channels 14-4, 22-4, 48-2 or 48-3?

Since TiVo switched from Tribune guide data to Rovi, these stations have lost all guide data, well not ALL guide data, TiVo thinks that virtual channels 48-* are on real channel 48 - that's where the guide data appears, but both of my TiVos find them on real channel 19.

14-4 and 22-4 are the same real channel, my Premiere sees 22-4 and my TiVo HD sees it as channel 14-4, both have been re-scanned, same result??

I have put in a report on the TiVo website but who knows when they will get it fixed.

Thanks for the update on the Country Channel. Only problem is the sound is so distorted it is unlistenable.
Have you heard if Ramar is going to replace the channls that is being carried by 13 and 28? If so, what willreplace them if replaced?

Here is a table showing OTA networks

I haven't heard anything on why Ramar is still carrying Laff and Escape on KMYL-LD. I guess they'll keep them on until their contract expires with Katz Broadcasting.

The main diginets we are still missing in Lubbock are Antenna TV, Cozi TV, Comet, Justice Network, Decades and Retro TV.

DTV America does has a construction permit for KDKW-LD 21 on the same tower as KNKC-LD 29 in Lubbock. It's suppose to be an affiliate of MundoMax. From what I'm reading, MundoMax is about to go under.

DTV America did sign on another station in Amarillo a while back (KAOU-LD) and it has Cozi TV on the lineup. I keep expecting to see it show up here in Lubbock. I was hoping they would replace Bounce TV with Cozi TV.

Thanks for the update Twobytwo!

I watch ION some when I visit my family out of state. Back in March they had all day marathons of Law & Order SVU, Criminal Minds and Blue Bloods. I think they run marathons of different shows each day.

BTW, you may have noticed the KNKC-LD stations are down right now. DTV America is based in Sunrise, Florida (Broward County). I'm guessing Hurricane Matthew must messed up their operations down there. The stations have been down since Thursday.

I just ran a rescan on both my televisions (8:30 p.m.) and 34-3 isn't showing up. They must have cut it off since this morning.

It's possible they were running a test. I wonder if they plan to replace either Laff or Escape on KMYL-LD with ION?

I know KASA in Albuquerque has ION on their X-3 channel and Ramar is about to take the station over. I hear Ramar runs all their stations out of the Lubbock hub. It's possible they accidentally mixed a signal up. I know a while back their MeTV Durango/Albuquerque (KRTN) was showing up in Lubbock on 48-4 for a few days.

I really hope we are getting ION!

I sent an email to DTV America late last week asking when KDKW-LD 21 will go to air. I also asked about them picking up Cozi TV and Comet in the future.

I got a reply Monday:

"Thank you for your email. We don’t have an exact launch date yet, but we have relationships with Cozi and Comet and will consider both for Lubbock when the time comes to build our second station."

KNKC-LD 29-7 is now on the air with some channel called Newsmax TV. It appears to be some sort of conservative news channel.
