Pissed...
pj1016

When I called their excuse was we should have been charged for ESPN-HD from the start and it was sent out as a mistake.

I was getting all the movie packages so when I called I asked about Max-HD and Discovery-HD. She said those channels would not be added in our area till late Dec. I said well hopefully Adelphia will be gone by then. That went over like a turd in a punch bowl.

So I cancelled the MAX,Starz,Encore packages. Kept HBO & SHO so I could keep those HD packages. I basically dropped anything that would not help me on my HD stuff and added the ESPN-HD.

I wasn't watching these anyway so I won't really miss anything and I saved a few bucks along the way.

It really pissed me off the way it was handled also but that is typical Adelphia.

Good luck.

Jim

Thanks, Jim.

I just called and dumped one premium channel and added ESPN-HD; didn't have the energy to blast them as I know from past experience that it wouldn't do any good.

Especially now that they have been bought, I'm sure they couldn't care at all about customer retention.

I'll be moving to a new house in about two months, and you can bet I'll be taking a hard look at Dish then if these twits haven't gotten everyone in my area switched from analog to digital and added more HD channels.

Is anyone else having problems only with NBA in HD on both ESPN HD and ABC HD? Everything except NBA is fine. Suggestions? Maybe a MOXI issue?

It breaks up and sputters like digital interference. Only NBA. Very weird.

Apologies if this is the not the right forum. Please be nice to the newbie and let me know if this should be elsewhere.

Also, Adelphia promised me today they would tell me by Monday when the 3.2 Moxi upgrade would happen. I don't believe them and I am not holding my breath on an answer. FWIW.

I noticed that same type of problem on ESPN-HD when I had Adelphia/Moxi. It seemed to be more frequent with fast motion.

For me it's any HD sports on ESPN-HD. The other channels are OK. There's an ongoing discussion in the Moxi forum.

Not just with MOXI. I see the periodic break-up on ESPN-HD through a moto 6200.

THANKS for the update. I couldn't test that setup and often wondered, if it's the Moxi, why doesn't it do the same on all channels.

Does anyone use HTPC with HDTV tuner card and able to receive all HD channels (ABC, CBS, ESPN HD...) from Adelphia cable without using their STB? Which card does work with your system? I plan to put one into my pc.

You can get all of the unencrypted QAM channels (which should be the major networks and PBS). You will not get the cable channels (ESPN, Discovery, etc...). I use the MyHD 130.

BTW, does anyone that has QAM tuner know the channel numbers for the major networks? I get CBS, NBC, and PBS, but I can not find ABC or FOX when I do a channel scan. If someone could list the channel numbers for the networks I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
octavian

Anyone watch the Sonics/Spurs game on ESPN-HD last night? The amount of breakup was ridiculous. At least every 30 secs. or so. Very frustrating, especially in this game where, toward the end, every possession counted.

Is this an issue with the ESPN feed or can we put the blame squarely on Adelphia?

Did you see my post up a few? I've been complaining for awhile. Where are you in Adelphialand? I'm in West LA W of the 405.

Joe: Yes, I did. I just wanted to make sure it was system-wide, rather than a localized problem. When it wasn't breaking up, the PQ was excellent. But, I gotta tell ya, on more than a few clutch shots, I wanted to scream!

I live in Los Feliz, with the local office in Eagle Rock (the headend, I think, is in Van Nuys). I'd call and complain, but if you've been on this for a while with no results, it would probably be pointless.

I get more help on these forums than any from Adelphia. I got tired of having to wait for a tech with no positive results. I figured when one of us figures out the actual problem then it's time to call with the specifice request. And we're pay EXTRA for ESPN, just keep telling yourself...

I'm in Encino, and I had the same problem with the game last night, breaking up every 30 seconds. I've noticed this before and didn't think it was too big a deal, but last night, it really was annoying. I agree with Joe that complaining to Adelphia doesn't do anything. Since there is another forum on this problem (which I haven't looked for yet), I assume it's not limited to Adephia customers. Other than the Dish guy who saw no problem, is the problem occurring on any other systems?

The ESPN-HD debacle has got me close to cancelling my Moxi and premiums and going with the sat providers. In TO, the HD is minimal at best. I can do better with DirecTV, but DirecTV is in flux with the MP4 switchover.

With the TWC takeover, improvement is at least two years away. I'll wait for the VOD release in June and see if its worth it, but I'm disappointed in the HD offerings. If DirectV has decent offerings and equipment when they go to the Spaceway sats, I may have to switch.

With the 10 additional former Voom HD channels, the new 942 DVR, I really think the Dish Network is the best choice right now. I have been very happy with the 942 the past month.

I saw the same problem on HD ESPN tonight.

Do you guys want to switch to dish now? Do you want to wait until the MPEG4 in the market first?

I've had conversations with Adelphia engineers and once they know of a problem they fix it if they can at the system level. Of course moxi and network problems are not just local issues.

I'm sure they'll have some kind of upgrade promotion if you agree to 12 months. I'm more likely to switch to D*. I'm waiting for 3.2 and VOD to see if I like it.

Is this because of the area you are in? I was always curious if we could get them in my area also.

I got the mailing from Adelphia, which described meaningless changes. I read above or on the MOXI thread that the 3.2 version of Moxi is coming on June 15. Does that mean it's coming to Adelphia SoCal on that day? What is the basis of that statement?
