As expected... This morning Cincinnati lost the last over the air 24 hour weather channel. WCPO 9 removed their Radar channel on 9.2 and replaced it "Escape", a channel aimed at women age 18-34 with a full schedule of what the TV show South Park calls "Murder Porn". Right now it's broadcasting at 4x3 480i standard definition.
Channel 9.3 became "LAFF" as expected. Live Well Network ceased operations on schedule. LAFF is a channel dedicated to comedy. The schedule has such "classics" as Life Goes On, Drew Carey Show and Spin City. It also features plenty of comedy movies. Channel 9 is broadcasting this channel in 9x16 "stretch-o-matic" standard definition ensuring I will never watch it.

I'm not impressed by the programming lineup on either channel so far. The picture quality is not as good as MeTV on either 9.2 or 9.3. Looks like they reduced the bit rate on both subs. If that's the case they could put the weather radar on back on Ch 9.4.

Looks similar to what happened to WLWT a few months ago. Hopefully they won't be down for a week. I guess they could try to squeeze them in on sister station WKRC-DT although it would have to be 480i SD.

From Facebook

We apologize to our over-the-air viewers... We're experiencing a problem with a transmission line at our transmitter. Our engineers are working on it but had to temporarily take the broadcast signal off the air. We hope to be back as soon as possible.

I'm getting a weaker than usual signal on WSTR 64 as of this evening. It appears they are running low power.

That's what they posted under the comments section on Facebook. Looks like they are testing the new transmission line at low power for now.

Anyone know where I can find a store that carries Channel Master products near Cincinnati? I need to purchase a 10 foot mast but would rather not pay to have it shipped. Home Depot, according to their website, does not offer in store pickup. Cost to ship is too expensive. Want to walk into a store and drive home with it.

Have you tried your local Radio Shack stores? According to their website they have them in stock at several outlets.

In the Cincy area? Just did a check online again. Got the search feature to work right this time. It does look like some area stores have them in stock.

I'm surprised they're not more expensive being Radio Shack.

Whoever bought them out is keeping some of the stores open and apparently some of the product lines intact.

Don't have them. But since RS still seems to have some I may get a couple there. Have one of the Channel Master masts and would prefer one to match it for the current installation. Can use the RS edition for a couple other projects I have though.

Post a TV Fool report for your location. www.tvfool.com Click on "Check your address for free TV" and follow the instructions. After I see that I might be able to troubleshoot the problem.

Comes in fine at my home in Covington.

20.2 says "Decades", but it's showing the classic movies. The Decades network appears to be launching soon.

20.3 is now AMG TV.

20.5 remains the good ol' test pattern.

Noticed that today as well. It would be nice if they could simulcast 25.1 on 20.5. I can't get WKRP here due to them being on CH47 since WAVE is causing some problems for me here in Grant County. Ch 20 is very strong in Northern KY.

WOTH Digital Launch - Subchannel List

I saw programming for WOTH 20.1-20.4 on Titan TV and wothtv.com. All of their subchannels are 480i, but some are in widescreen*.

20.1 - Movies! (16:9)
20.2 - Decades (16:9)
20.3 - AMG TV (4:3)
20.4 - Tuff TV (4:3)
20.5 - "Classics" (4:3) - presumably Block Broadcasting's classic movies, infomercials, and maybe some other surprises?

I still haven't seen any channel guide data come across for any of the sub channels. It looks like there are a few bugs to work out. Still, it looks like we're very close to the official digital launch of WOTH-CD!

* In fact, I've noticed that Cozi on 25.1 is now 16:9.

The video quality on these channels is really good! Surprisingly good! Of course the source needs to be taken into consideration. 20.5 has the patented "Low Budget" look. But the other don't have the standard haze filter.

I would still like to see a Spanish Language channel like Telemundo. That would be truly unique and would serve a giant unversed market in the area. But These channels are a great addition to local TV.

TNGTony, Thanks for the complement. We too have noticed on Decades, the resolution of the prints of the Fugitive look great. We are using some new encoders, that is helping. As for the Spanish language programing, there is a lot of Networks out there, we even talked to a few, but Cincinnati DMA has less that 2% Hispanic in population. Don't thing we could find advertiser to support the programing. For a city our size there is no Hispanic radio, Columbus and Indy both have several Hispanic radio station and also no Hispanic TV. A colleague in Vegas on his station has several Hispanic channel and does will with them. FYI there is one we looked closer at is Micas Broadcast Network, www.mcbntv.com, it is Hispanic culture with the programing in English.

MiCasa would be a great selection for Cincinnati. It's the best of both English and Spanish for a Hispanic/Latino viewership.

Wanting a strong FCC to say no to the Wireless lobby. Keep the tv broadcast band for ota television broadcasters.
