I'm currently in Indianapolis and that is one of the few bright spots about living here. They have local weather radar and forecasts i.e. data on a couple of sub channels for one station. Another station sub channel offers a newscast updated a couple of times a day along with sports (including minor league hockey and baseball games) and weather. At least the broadcasters in Indy are making an attempt to provide a real public service to their viewers which is what the FCC intended when they doled out these licenses. Serve the public interest to some degree.

Thanks, You guys are a great asset to me, I enjoy hearing from you. When a viewer calls our station, and as for "The Big Guy" the will get me. Sorry had to tie in the WKRP in my post.

Tim, sorry but there is no more room. We thought about weather, for a second, but almost everyone now has a cell phone in there pocket and can get weather where ever they are.

Most people will only watch a weather channel to get the forecast, maybe a couple of minutes, we would like our viewers to stay tuned for a least a half hour, and watch a whole program.

However, I do agree with WILW, a station is there to serve the public, and entertain. When we have bad weather in our viewing area we will put on crawl warning the public on all our channels.
We monitor the Nation Weather Service 24/7 for such information..

Glade the PISP caught up on you Tivo unit.

thanks elliot. it was rather enjoyable looking at what was coming up on ch. 20 with the correct program guide on tivo. it was aggravating trying to record a program before the tivo guide update because it would record hours of programming for a half hr. program.

Personally, you'll never have to apologize for a 'KRP reference to me, Mr. Carlson.

Came in fine at my home in Covington this morning (Sunday).

What kind of tower are you installing? How tall?

20-5 is supposed to be AMG TV but it is currently a frozen pic.

Any OTA Dayton watchers out there having issues with WKEF by chance? I asked in the Dayton thread, thought I'd ask here also.

I get nothing for all 3 channels all of the sudden, was a solid 30dB+ signal up until Saturday. Now it's nothing. At all.

All other Dayton stations are working as usual.

They appear to be down according to posts by other OTA viewers on their FB Page. Maybe they are preparing to move to RF CH 18 possibly?

They probably wouldn't do it without some notice. "Hey, if you get WKEF programming over the air with an antenna, be sure to rescan to pick up our improved signal on [such-and-such date]."

That's true...If it's a transmission line problem they might be down for awhile and on low power like their sister station WSTR 64. They still aren't at full power running on the temporary setup.

According to the windows media player signal strength meter WKEF 22 is at full strength in this area. 'Course that's only three miles from their tower, so...

The windows media player signal strength meter shows WKEF 22 maxing with six signal bars. Of course being only three miles from the WKEF transmitting tower may be the reason why.

Here's a comment from their Facebook page.

Our engineers are currently installing a new tower to address some signal issues. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have everything back up to 100 percent very soon. Thank you for your patience!

Sounds like they are installing a new tower for the impending move to CH 18

Another comment from their Facebook page says:

Quote:
PROGRAMMING ALERT: ABC 22 is replacing its antenna, which is causing reception issues for many of our viewers. We apologize for the inconvenience. The new antenna will be up and running by July 15. At that time, please rescan your channels to make sure your TV receives ABC 22
It sounds like they'll be on RF 18 in two weeks (or less).

I am also noticing lower signal levels today on WSTR 64. They were also down earlier this evening. There are several FB posts about it as well.
