go with the mcm antenna. the owner of the 2 low power stations ch.20/25 also uses the mcm stellar labs antennas that I use (see my previous post). if you want more power they even have a double bay antenna. if you live within 20 mi. radius from downtown you should get ch.12 without any problem.

Aspect Ratios Fixed

I was channel surfing the other day and discovered that Laff on 9.3 is now being sent properly in 4:3 and ASN on 12.3 lost its extra bars at the top and bottom and is now properly 16:9.

Does anything think any of the local broadcasters will create a News channel similar to the one in Indianapolis on WRTV TV 6? 6.2 is called Hometowns Sports and News and airs updated news blocks, sports and weather every day. They even carry live and taped Minor League Hockey and Baseball games. Seems like this is an idea whose time has come in many markets now that more people are cutting cable and satellite and using OTA signals again.

that is a very good channel 6-2 indianapolis. I was expecting ch.9 to do a local headline news channel when they stopped their weather channel.

im glad they didn't do it because they would never update their weather channel. we would probably have the same problem with a headline news channel.

It would be a good thing to have in Cincinnati, but I agree it would probably be lacking in content. I find the Cincinnati stations to be lacking in real news these days. Perhaps TWC could do a Tri State news channel. We have CN2 in Northern KY which is mostly weather but they do have KY political news in the evenings. TWC could expand it and add news coverage for the entire tri state area.

Where weather is concerned I'd be happy with a simple channel showing only the local and regional radar. Have seen those in Indy, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and some others.

Local broadcasters must realize that they are still obligated to try to serve the public interest with their stations. Information and news programming is the ideal way to supplement entertainment programming.

I think ch. 14 could do a weather channel on 14-5 (its a duplicate subchannel).
they should do it like wipb in indianaplois.

It looks like WBQC-CH25 is having problems as I've not received any signal from them since this morning.

Was there any bad weather in Cincinnati that caused the transmitter to go out? Or is it an electrical issue?

I don't think the problem is weather related. It was nice and warm today in the Cincinnati area. We have some storms moving thru the area tonight so hopefully WOTH CH20 doesn't get zapped. As of now they are running fine with a good signal.

Anyone have any idea as to how this will impact the Cincinnati-Dayton markets? Fortunately I've stocked up on several VHF only antennas (2 to 13) and if we see some stations move from UHF to VHF, I will be still be able to watch.

Wondering which stations in the local area will be impacted and have to move to a lower spot on the UHF dial or to the VHF band?

I expect ch.20 and ch.25 to be sold during the auction. I think elliot is ready to retire and enjoy the money from the sale of his stations. I also expect low power ch.36 (daystar) to be forced to a vhf station. I know dayton channels ch.2 (50), 7(41), and ch.43 (39) TBN will definately have to move.

here's what I think will happen:

ch.2 (50) in dayton will be sold and share with their other channel 26.

Sinclair wil sell ch.45 (30) and share ch.22 since that channel has more power.

ch.64 will sell and move its programming to ch.12.3.

ch.14 or 48 will sell since they have alot duplicate programming.

Channel 25 is an LD (not Class A), so it can't be sold in the auction. It might get moved to another channel, though.

Does anyone know when Time Warner will be fully converted to digital? Currently, 17 of the analog channels have been converted and have "Get your TV picture back" splash screens. The other channels are still on the air, except for Comedy Central which had some kind of satellite glitch in late March and was never fixed (frozen on AMC movie credits). I'm wondering when the remaining analog channels will become splash screens. Also when will the splash screens be cut and the higher speed Internet launched? $51 for 15 mbps Internet and home phone is ridiculous. I could tolerate the price if I was getting twc Maxx 50 mbps.
On a somewhat related note, I live in Georgetown on the old Adelphia Amelia system. So I might be on a different system compared to the city.

A time warner sales rep. told me about 3-4 weeks. they will be taking away 10-15 channels each week (usually on tuesday morning). the local channels will be the last to go.

Eliot keeps packing them in! There was a note on their Facebook page of an upgrade to their multiplexer and encoders a few weeks ago. Hopefully he'll get Evine set to 4:3 and get the rest of the channel guide information added soon.

"Classic" on 20.7 appears to be independent. I haven't been able to find anything whether this is a new network or if Eliot is making his own independent sub channel.

Time warner finished pulling local channels off the analog system early Wednesday morning. Does anyone know how long before the 50 channels of "get your TV picture back" are cut and only snow remain? I want my 50mbps standard Internet upgrade

Assume anything you want from TWC is going to take months longer than they lead you to believe.

Video quality has really improved since they upgraded the encoders on WOTH 20. I wonder if there any plans on doing the same on 25 WBQC so they could add two more channels?

Does anyone know of a good outdoor antenna that'll pick up Cincinnati channels including WOTH and WKRP in Georgetown? I live in a trailer park so it'll have to be fairly small and not extremely high off the ground. I would also like to get Lexington or Dayton channels if that's possible

I can only imagine how much money it takes to purchase newer digital encoders in order to make video improvements. Keep up the good work on 20/25 It's nice to have these channels available in Greater Cincinnati.

Post a TV Fool Report for your exact location. After I see that I can offer a recommendation.

all other channels including low power stations 20, 25 and dayton stations come in very strong here in sharonville. my parents house about a mile away has a new outdoor antenna, rotor and rg6 cable and they are also having the same problem receiving ch.36.

dont think its on my end. anyone else having problems receiving ch.36 on a regular basis.

WCET - Cincinnati

WCET is running at reduced power because of two blown power supplies. They expect the power supplies to be repaired within the next two weeks. If you are experiencing over-the-air reception problems recently, this may be the cause.

It's good to see Friday Night Fu back, at least for a little while.

I guess they're still playing around with encoder settings. It appears to be bit staved and there are occasional breaks in the picture and sound.

I noticed that as well. 64.4 Get TV has been dropping frames and audio recently as well so it is not just a problem with WBQC. Hey, Maybe they could have a classic WBQC programming Channel with replays of In The House and other shows from their vaults.
