The reboot helped!

Other OTA DTs at my location:
"16" - 70 but breaking up (bad encoder or multipath?)
"22" - 92
"28" - 85
"34" - 74
"46" - 79

BTW: I have RS's cheapest UHF antenna ... U-75R ... Catalog #: 15-2160

Between White Pigeon and Sturgis MI, 34.7 miles away, towers at 254 degrees, and it looks like I am a bit too far away.

25.1 = peak 63, bouncing between 0 and 58, breakups
57.1 = bouncing signal from 0 to 58, had a peak of 63
69.1 = signal is more stable, 50-53%, still has lots of breakups

By comparison:
16.1 = 88
22.1 = 70
28.1 = 63
46.1 = 83
34.1 = 89

Now I may be able to tweak my antenna, as I was peaking it on 34.1 previously as that was my only channel I was trying for in HD, but now I can get PBS HD over cable, so hopefully I can peak my antenna on CW HD!

I'm able to get two of the signals: 25.1 @ 70-75 strength and 57.1 @ 60-65 strength using my DISH ViP622. I'll have to play with the antenna this evening to see if that helps.

16 and 22 perfect

Get nothing for 57. What is the chance for a waiver. Located near North Webster, over 30 miles SE.

Up until just over a year ago, the local CW affiliate station, WTTV-DT-48 (4-1) was operating with only 4 kW @ a little over 950 feet (HAAT) from its tower south of Indy in Trafalgar, IN. I live 37 miles north of the tower on the far north side of Indy and using a good high-gain antenna (CM 4221 or 4228, or Antennas Direct 91XG) @ 20-25 feet AGL, plus a preamp, I had a signal reading of 85-90%.

BTW, congratulations in getting the new LDs on the air!

I'm northwest of Elkhart, about 13 miles from the towers, with a Channel Master 4-bow antenna, and things are looking terrific here:

57.1 (UHF-49): 86%
69.1 (UHF-23): 81% (occasionally bouncing down to 72%)
25.1 (UHF-27): 85%

Time for the happy-dance!

I upgraded my antenna to an amplified version. (Radio Shack DA-5200 Catalog #: 15-2186)
Still using my ViP-211 and ViP-622 DVR receivers. 12 miles out to the East.

23 (69.1) ... 66-67 (of 100)
27 (25.1) ... 74-75
49 (57.1) ... 0

42 (16.x) ... 0-69-73 (bad encoder?)
30 (22.x) ... 85-86
58 (28.1) ... 75-77
35 (34.x) ... 66-68
48 (46.x) ... 70-71

Seeing the other results for 57.1 (49) I'll try again later.
I'll also pull out my old DT tuner some time.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say THANKS! (and congratulations)

As I feared, there is no guide data available from TiVo and I can't even tune to them with the Directv HR20 because Directv has never heard of these channels. For now, I can only view them live on the TiVos and can't see them at all on the HR20.

Those signal strengths seem awfully low for being just twelve miles from the towers with an amplified antenna -- even if it's a Radio Shack (which, sorry to say, I think is mostly overpriced garbage).

Is it possible you have a cabling problem? Or is the amplifier adjustable?

I'm glad I'm not the only one going crazy! I was on hold with DirecTV and ended up hanging up. Did DirecTV give you any kind of timeframe as to when those channels will show up in the guide?

O.k., so you didn't call DirecTV about it today. I'd like to be able to record these HD channels through the HR20 when the new seasons start in the next few weeks. I am doubting calling DirecTV is gonna change anything, but thought I'd at least call and see...

Loser - get a real satellite service!

(Just kidding my fellow DBSTalk mod.)

In the past guide data has appeared the next day when I've added new OTA HD channels (this was true even when I managed to tune in 21.1 WPTA, 24 digital, out of Fort Wayne). Perhaps tomorrow we'll have EPG for 25.1 and 57.1.

I don't expect EPG for 69.1 since E* does not carry that channel.

Mike, are you getting EPG for 46.1 and 46.2? How about the other .2/.3 channels? E* customers in the SB market get all EPG for the old channels.

I realized that my home distribution has a channel on 50 ... when I turned that off I got 49 (57.1) with a 65 signal level. It keeps dropping out. I expect there is interference from 48 (46.1) ... perhaps the ViP tuner can't do side by side channels?

57.1 ... Irish Rewind at 7:30pm (6:30pm CT) had some letterboxing issues ... very skinny tall football players with double width side panels.

Just tried the new signals 30 miles north of Fort Wayne (well outside the coverage area for the LDs, but South Bend stations have never been particularly difficult to receive here, the main exception being 69). XG91 antenna, no amp. Signals are as follows:

WBND: steady 70, perfectly watchable
WCWW: 40s-50s, occasional drops to 0, no picture or sound
WMYS: 0 (IIRC, it's directional, so that's a given)

(UPDATE just before 9pm: WBND has just started jumping from the 40s to 70 with dropouts, largely unwatchable.)

Irish Rewind is a local show. Likely an issue with the program (editing) itself. What you see on the DTV is what has fed the analog since 12/05. The analog feed of 25 and 57 is a 4:3 crop of the HD.

All: Guide data on the OTA will come soon. 30 days or less. No time to configure right now. Programming will contact DirecTV and Dish so they will fix the guide issue on sat.

Really curious to hear general comments of signal strength and pic quality of all over the weekend. Thanks for all who have posted so far. Keep in mind that unfortunately these are FCC LP-DTV stations. We'd go full power tonight if we could. Hopefully we can get some waivers in the not to distant future to do so.

I have not seen any problems on 25.1 or 69.1 ... I have audio and video and have closed captioning on both. (It would be good to note the receiver if you're having problems.)

Hopefully E* will add the 69.1 data - even though they don't carry that channel via satellite. The other two are simple maps and could be easily done.

It's been much better this evening. I've got 25, 57 & 69 in the 70-85 signal strength range but I do get a few dropouts on 57.

I also have the HR20 issue. When I reset the antenna settings and re-scan, I still don't see them. But if I just plug some standard rabbit ears into my actual TV and bypass the HR20, I see them on my TV.

That being said, my HD antenna is currently fed into the back of the HR20. Can I run a splitter off of the antenna and feed both the HR20 and the tuner in my actual TV without and significant signal loss? That way I can still have the guide stuff for other OTA locals, but still have the good antenna feed the TV so that I get a good signal for watching 57-1 until it shows up on the HR20?

Also, I know how to check the signal strength of OTA HD channels with the HR20, but can you also do that through your actual HD TV itself? How are you guys that aren't running Dish or Direct reporting your signal strength?

Thanks for all the hard work on getting these up and running!

I just rescanned this morning on my HR20 for the new channels and it doesn't pull up any of the new channels. I wonder why yours did and mine didn't. You just went through initial setup again, right?

Also trying to get 25.1 and 57.1. Do not show up in HR20 menu, I'm also going to try and call Directv and see if we can get enough pressure on them to update their guide.
