orionzdrm,

Charter in eastern Simpsonville is providing all the digital channels I had yesterday. Suggest you rescan. If unsuccessful, contact Charter.

Working fine on Greenville-eastside.

Where are you? Your answers will come qquicker and be more accurate with some info in your listing. We don't need street, but rough area helps lots.

The whole DMA thing is really hypocritical when the locals are not even controlled at the station, but in Atlanta or somewhere else. How can they really be considered local then?
Let the consumer decide what station to watch, and the crappy ones will go under as they should.

There is no new programming as of yet on 55.2. And I don't know if they are going to move This TV from 3.2 as WBTV is allegedly contracted by Raycom to pick up Bounce TV in the fall. Or they could put Bounce on 3.3 but I hope they don't because it will detract from the HD video quality on 3.1 .

Let the consumer decide what station to watch, and the crappy ones will go under as they should.

The DMA is primarily determined by the area covered by the OTA signal. The location of the station's master control is irrelevant. Moving master control doesn't change the programming or other services a station provides to the local community.

I realize the DMA concept is somewhat dated but it is the way television broadcasting has been organized almost since its inception. It certainly wasn't an issue until cable and satellite came along. It's more of an issue in markets like this one that covers parts of three states and less of an issue in single-city/single-state markets. But when something has been in place that long and a business is built around it, it's not easy to change.

I understand your feeling and you are not alone but there are many reasons why it continues. Don't think this type of thing is unique to television broadcasting. I have an iPad and if I'm sitting in my living room and want to watch certain Hulu videos, I can't because Hulu doesn't have the rights to distribute these to mobile devices. I can pick up my laptop and watch the same video without restriction since the laptop isn't considered to be a "mobile" device. It's kind of frustrating but it is based on the profit motive and if we want these goods and services to continue, companies must make a profit and that's not getting any easier.

Spent the evening watching antenna TV on 46.2. EXCELLENT network. Much better than RTV, especially since they have no infomercials after 2am. Greenville/Spartanburg networks better take notice. Between their poor newscasts which remind me of my college TV station without the satellite feeds and infomercials, the local viewing audience is going to leave them. I already have.

I can watch the living well network on 36.2 which surprisingly interesting, antenna TV and of course This TV. I just don't understand why 46.2 and 55.2 will have the same network for the same viewing area.

Depending upon location, a good UHF antenna and preamp are needed to receive Charlotte stations. Consider 91XG, MXU59, 9095, or 4228 with a CM7777 preamp. Also CS2 or CS4 may work well.

I'm using an Antenna Direct DB-8 UHF antenna. It is 15 feet above the roof. I have an old rat shack amplifier but cannot turn it up any more than minimum amplification because of a cellular tower 2 blocks away. Because of that problem I'm not even sure it's doing any good.

My location is Highway 101 and Brockman Road area. That's half way between I-85 and Woodruff city limits.

I receive all of the Charlotte channels (3, 18, 36, 46 & 55) day and night. At night I receive 9 and 64. I cannot receive either of the 2 PBS stations in Charlotte.

Do not have a rotor, permanently positioned looking at Charlotte. There was a question if this antenna would receive VHF stations. I do receive channel 7 but the signal is low. Every so often it will pixel but not enough to disturb viewing. All other GSP stations are perfect. I highly recommend this antenna. I bought mine for $69.99 with free shipping on ebay. Below is the link to the auction I won if anyone wants to look at it.

I get all of the Charlotte stations, and WBTV consistently has a better, stronger signal here in Enoree, than does WSPA

Are you using a VHF antenna as well as UHF? For WSPA, you need VHF and it should be strong as well.

I think there may be some atmospheric issues today, as some of my local signals have been up and down a bit since this morning. And 62 is weaker than normal right now, but my antenna is not exactly aimed their direction. But despite that, it normally comes in strong.

So far I have enjoyed Antenna TV on 46.2, particularly All in the Family at night. But overall, I do think MeTV has the better lineup, so I will be happy when it finally appears on WSPA 7.2 .

I think METV May not start on WSPA still maybe sometime in September. when ever WSPA does make the switch they will start pre empt METV like they did with RTV and show SEC Basketball

Here's some off topic humor. Have DB8 antenna outside, 20 feet above the roof. Not a hint channel 13 exists. Portable in the bedroom with $9.95 rat shack rabbit ears gets 13 perfect.

DB8 says it won't get VHF on that channel but channel 7 and SCETV that broadcasts on VHF comes in fine on the DB8. So much for bigger is better, huh?

As you said, the DB8 is a UHF antenna and is not designed for VHF. That is why it does not get 13, especially when pointed the wrong direction. But the rabbit ears will work well for 13 and 7 in a decent VHF reception area.

Earlier today, WYFF4 and several news outlets reported that more people are cutting the cord on cable/sat for TV service, due to rising costs. But the news anchors Nigel and Gabrielle were begging the viewers to keep cable so they would still be able to watch channel 4. Maybe they should do a follow up report on how to recieve free OTA TV with an appropriate antenna. As long as the FCC doesn't take away the broadcast spectrum, of course.

Well of course, most broadcast TV stations would rather you stay with cable or sat since those services pay the stations big bucks to carry their channels. The sad thing is, most viewers don't even realize they can get their favorite stations free over the air, or suspect it may be illegal to do so. Some of the responsibility for that lies with the stations themselves, who have mostly kept it a big secret. Still, as people realize they're paying their providers $800 to $1000, or more, each year for TV service, there will be a slow trickle back to OTA service.
