Regarding 13-WLOS, in my case it was necessary to add an FM Trap before the amplifier to avoid dropouts and pixilation. And only the RadioShack FM Trap seemed to resolve this apparent interference. I also tried an MCM version but it did not solve the problem. So even if your amp has a built in FM filter, I would still consider adding the FM Trap from RadioShack. And with some store closings, I would get one now. Plus they may be on clearance sale.

4. WBAL delays Live with Kelly and Michael to 10am, one hour later than DC.
5. No ION, Univision, Telemundo or Daystar; not many diginets.
6. The new station on RF5 (VC36) licensed to Dover DE has its transmitter in the Baltimore market, but is assigned by Nielsen to the DC DMA.
Worst of our for number 4. They preempt KLG and Hoda too!
Here in our market, we got a LP Daystar.

One positive thing about Balmer, Oprah Winfrey (former talk show host) got her start there.

Great Idea tylerSC,

I would call or write WYFF4 and express your
opinion on KLG and Hoda not airing at a
reasonable time slot on their station, but honestly
I doubt it will do any good.

You have a better chance of getting action
by asking one of the other stations in the area
to carry it. The best bet is WMYA DT. But
I think that WHNS DT is also a possibility, luckily neither is an
O&O station which would automatically rule out the airing most likely. I would bet on WMYA because it is a very weak
My Network affiliate and they have plenty of leeway for
such carriage situations.

I don't disagree that Group W itself didn't produce
some very good product during their time
and true Mike Douglas, Evening Magazine were
break through programming. Amazingly today I believe one of the original Group W affiliates is STILL airing
a form of Evening Magazine. I remember both
programs fondly, especially Evening Magazine since it was so different from anything else at the time, a live magazine format show that went on location with mobile video and a
microwave truck, neat stuff and fascinating back then.
But the problem was that many Group W stations
like KYW 3, and WJZ 13 didn't preempt for Group W content
but for blah, often times horrid syndicated programming that was no better and usually worse than what their own network was airing. One thing I will NEVER EVER FORGET was the absolutely WEIRD and BIZARRE "disco news" format that
KYW 3 aired back around 1979-81 or so..they called it
"Direct Connection" and you can still find clips of it on
youtube. It was weird, bizarre, and of course a
crash and burn ratings disaster back then. The viewers
hated it with a passion. Enjoy the wayback machine.

The Now Network on WGGS DT 16.4? No programming only color bars.

Just noticed this new subchannel activation on WGGS today.

The program guide says "The Now Network" but
there is no description of the kind of programs, and there is no actual
programming but instead an odd set of color bars displayed, with color bars on the top section of the screen and all red on the bottom half of the screen usually this means that the programming is NOT
available to whomever is attempting to pull it down from a
satellite, you also see this type of color bar /red screen when sporting events are being blocked from airing in a particular region often times on Fox Sports Networks. Anyone know what is going on with this?

No video yet on 16.4. But it says Now Network. They still have Jimmy Swaggart on 16.3 and are showing Roy Rogers on 16.2 and local Niteline HD on 16.1.

Interesting I just noticed that the previous color bars / red screen has been replaced
by a small "Tandberg Television" watermark on the upper right hand part of the screen and the fairly common satellite video lock error, when no signal from the satellite transponder is received this can be seen on cable cos when there is a weak or no signal from a transponder.

The "Tandberg Television" item is interesting because it is actually a TV video engineering company which sells digital encoders, and compression equipment (for DTV) along with interactive items which would be used with items such as video on demand services.

Actually Tandberg is now owned by Ericisson Television and has been since 2007.

Sounds like they have the video signal path in place but the receiver is either not validated or doesn't have a signal in it.

All opinions expressed (unless otherwise noted) are the posters and NOT the posters employers. The poster in NO WAY is/will speak for his employers.

Noticed that 16.4 is on the air, Now Network appears to be a religious programming
network similar to Daystar.

OK lets vote for the most annoying unneeded weather warnings, the
contest is between WYFF4 and newcomer WSPA7. They have BOTH been
allowing the Wind Chill advisory info to stay on at all times during all programming.
OUTRAGEOUS! The scrolling bars are completely distracting and offensive, and they are squeezing the picture to boot.

These new BOTTOM AND TOP CGIs are horrid, and to top off the insult to injury
WYFF4 keeps sounding their news tone ''alert" about every few minutes or so during
regular programming, folks this is ridiculous !

All of the weather warnings were very annoying and invasive on all of the GSP stations. Both the tops and bottoms of the screens were filled, and the picture was shrunk and distorted. Which is why it is nice to receive the Charlotte channels with an antenna. They had periodic rather than permanent scrolls, and the were much more discreetly placed on the screen.

Just for fun I did a "channel flip"... I get three sets of network stations. GSP via DirecTV, Charlotte via OTA, and New York national affiliates via DirecTV (Grandfathered from many moons ago)..

Right now conditions are virtually the same in all three cities (yes, even NYC... their temperatures were similar to ours yesterday and will drop into the single digits tonight).

All the Charlotte stations are free of scrolls right now, as are the NYC affiliates. Here are screenshots of what we see on the GSP stations, however:

I lived in the Philly market, and Lancaster, PA market and I don't ever remember seeing the
over the top degree warnings, usually in those two PA markets (even Lancaster is I believe the
48th biggest DMA in the country) unless it was a Tornado WARNING
you rarely saw nagging CGI on the screen. When there were severe T storm Warnings or Flash Flood Warnings you would see the warnings show up periodically so as to be informative but not over the top nagging. The WYFF4 audible chimes during their warnings are just silly.

The only times I can see a real reason to keep the warning up constantly are for the Tornado WARNING, or possibly a Flash Flood Warning because they are almost guaranteed catastrophic, imminent, and quickly occurring events.
