I would call or write WYFF4 and express your
opinion on KLG and Hoda not airing at a
reasonable time slot on their station, but honestly
I doubt it will do any good.
You have a better chance of getting action
by asking one of the other stations in the area
to carry it. The best bet is WMYA DT. But
I think that WHNS DT is also a possibility, luckily neither is an
O&O station which would automatically rule out the airing most likely. I would bet on WMYA because it is a very weak
My Network affiliate and they have plenty of leeway for
such carriage situations.
I don't disagree that Group W itself didn't produce
some very good product during their time
and true Mike Douglas, Evening Magazine were
break through programming. Amazingly today I believe one of the original Group W affiliates is STILL airing
a form of Evening Magazine. I remember both
programs fondly, especially Evening Magazine since it was so different from anything else at the time, a live magazine format show that went on location with mobile video and a
microwave truck, neat stuff and fascinating back then.
But the problem was that many Group W stations
like KYW 3, and WJZ 13 didn't preempt for Group W content
but for blah, often times horrid syndicated programming that was no better and usually worse than what their own network was airing. One thing I will NEVER EVER FORGET was the absolutely WEIRD and BIZARRE "disco news" format that
KYW 3 aired back around 1979-81 or so..they called it
"Direct Connection" and you can still find clips of it on
youtube. It was weird, bizarre, and of course a
crash and burn ratings disaster back then. The viewers
hated it with a passion. Enjoy the wayback machine.
