I saw this first hand tonight... I was watching the WNBC news from NYC and they had a producer trying to use one of these devices driving down the road. The picture was horrid to begin with, very, very dark and blurry. But everytime they started talking it broke up beyond recognition. They abandoned the whole thing on every "Take".

After seeing that I guess the ones stations have around here must be newer, or better at least... You'd think the flagship would have top of the line equipment.

Tried early this morning, and just tried again a few minutes ago.

Took a while this time, but Gracenote finally came through. The FXX listing moving from 96 to 122 has finally been fixed. It's correct on Charter's online guide as well. It may take another day or two to trickle down to Tivo and WMC.

EDIT: Shows up now in WMC.

Charter already fixed their guide too, at least for Greenville. I didn't check Spartanburg. That was part of the proof I sent Gracenote, in addition to the channel map from my cable card. Gracenote's (Tribune Media Services) online guide is Zap2It (click Change My Location at the top to show the right one).

FXX-E has been switched to 122 temporarily per the below info from our contact at Charter:

"It should be on CH 96 but engineering placed it on CH 122. We have some line-ups within the area where FXX is on CH 122 so I think there is where the mix up occurred.

Let's do this for your purposes. Go ahead and update your database to show FXX on CH 122. I'll regroup with Programming to verify how we should correct the issue."

Thanks,

Darren

Had some tuning adapter issues recently and was checking my channel map. For those who are curious, looks like about 150 out of about 700 channels on Charter are SDV. Most of those are Spanish.

That 4-bay antenna should be a good improvement. And I have found the Winegard LNA-100 inline amp to perform better than the others, as it has a low noise figure. I would try that one.

Check Amazon or Solid Signal for best pricing. And that amp goes near the TV, not at the antenna. It has USB power or regular wall outlet adapter. But if you have a short cable run, it could overpower. Now there is a cheap RCA inline amp at Walmart for $16 that you could try. It may be a decent performer, but you don't want to overpower. You could try and see, but the Winegard is probably the best. But if you could put that antenna outside, you may get even better results, and perhaps hold onto 9 and 18 during the day. But good if you get 13 with that UHF antenna, as it is hard to get in Upstate.

WSPA noted at the end of tonight's broadcast that they plan on carrying the events from Charleston live tomorrow starting at 10:45am. I wonder if the other local stations will follow suit? It seems unusual to me that UNC-TV in NC is carrying the services in HD on their primary channel, yet SC-ETV has delegated it to ETV World on their -3 channels.

I'm in the process of updating my Charter channel line-up on TiVo and I noticed two channels... 900 and 901 are both "Local Origination" with nothing but color bars on the screen. Has anyone actually seen Charter use these channels for local programming?
