How much revenue do they make from these subchannels? How much quality are we sacrificing to the main HD Channel? Will HDTV go the way of music (I.e. mp3's)...where 720p/1080p regardless of bitrate is acceptable?

At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it.

I don't think so....when ATSC was in the crib, Rupert Murdoch said he intended to do NO HDTV, but instead split his 6 mhz up into multiple subchannels. He was informed by several honchos in Congress that if he did that, they'd see that he didn't get any digital spectrum. Of course, Congress has recently become much more bidness-friendly, but Fox's 720p is here to stay.

I wonder if DirecTV folks will even see this one! It didn't add either 62.3 or 62.4.

Hi. Does anyone in central Austin, Brentwood/Crestview area get Kbvo or any of the Kcwx channels? As of today I can pick up a new station to me, Retro TV using a Mohu Leaf.

Not seeing anything new here, near Slaughter and Manchaca Road. I've got an outside Clearstream 2V pointed directly north. What's the channel number for that RetroTV that you're seeing?

17-5 RTVE

And another new one to me:

17-6 REVN

Revin as in cars. It shows car stuff all day. I really want KBVO and KCWX which is 2 2.1 and 2.2.

OK, that's going to be KVAT-LD, licensed to Garfield. That's down southeast of the airport.

As for KBVO, it's coming. Right now it's only a light bulb (75 watts), but KXAN has a license to upgrade it to about 13,000 watts IIRC, so hopefully it will soon cover most of Austin, as opposed to about three feet around it's current transmitter.

As for KCWX, its digital signal is on channel 5, so it must have faced many of the challenges that KTBC had in getting ATSC to run properly over VHF. Wiki reports that it has filed an application with the FCC not only for a power increase from 24kW to 83kW, but also has applications in for fill-in translators in both San Antonio and Austin. There appears to have been an application for a delay in construction of this facility ( http://data.fcc.gov/mediabureau/v01/...n/1654171.html ). The owners apparently want to make sure that if they build it, it won't be shut down after the repacking process, where the FCC is trying to reclaim spectrum.

Hi All,

I have a Ceton tuner card with TWC - for maybe the last three weeks 'channel 12' has been tuning the SD version.

Any advise?

Happy to report I'm getting these clearly in Pflugerville (Falcon Pointe), although Retro TV doesn't seem to have listings yet on Schedules Direct (email sent), and Rev'n has aspect ratio issues (horizontal squish) with some content.

Also, 24-3 KVUE-DT3 (as mentioned) has changed from AccuWeather to the Justice Network (murder porn). My wife is happy about that one.

With an attic antenna in SE RR (not too far from Falcon Pointe), I can't pick up 17-X. Although I can pick up 2.1/2.2 (KCWX) out of San Antonio

That's weird, it doesn't look like there's much special to it other than being a low-power channel: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...&q=call%3dKVAT . Perhaps a terrain issue? It looks to waver from green to purple on that signal map in the 45/130 area, depending on location.

I'm also using an attic antenna with a low-noise preamp, fairly standard setup.

My street is purple even though I'm at one of the higher points in the neighborhood on the side of a hill (probably what is blocking the signal)

Anyone having signal issues tonight? As best I can tell my equipment is all in working order, but I can't pull in any signal from KLRU (PBS), KVAT (17.x), KXAN (NBC), or KNVA (CW). ABC, CBS, Fox, Fox Killeen, and TSTV (29.x) are all fine.

Yes...a major power failure in Westlake has knocked out much of Austin TV over the air, and over satellite as well. Only Time Warner Cable, which has a direct link, is working.

Glad to hear it wasn't just me with issues. I was worried my antenna spontaneously combusted or a squirrel ate through my coax or something!

Haven't checked things this morning but I assume all is back to normal.

Cool, thanks for the info. Everything was back to normal for me this morning.

On the previous discussion of new channels, it looks like Schedules Direct has updated with guide data for 17-5 Retro TV, for anyone that helps (besides me).

Yea, now all I need is for them to change their bloody pattern so that SW Austin is NOT excluded!

Does anyone know the physical QAM Sub Channel for ABC (KVUE) in Austin, Tx on TWC?
I have found the other major networks HD channel but cannot find the sub channel for main ABC channel in HD.
ABC in SD is 20.3.

FOX = 6.61
NBC = 15.2
CBS = 23.1531
ABC = 23.?

Thanks!
