well oct 1st is sunday, does anyone think we will get a full power boost from either CBS or ABC today, or will this full power stuff ever happen. CBS told me about a month and a half ago that Oct 1st they will be going full power.

The President of WGTU ABC 29 & 8 said on the radio two weeks ago that they would be going full power and full HD in "The first part of October," so hopefully that means next week.

I am not sure on CBS at all.

If I can pull in all our HD Locals by Christmas time I will be more than happy..

With the CBSHD power boost, and the addition of PBS, ABC, and Fox in HD, this is shaping up to be an exciting fall for Northern Michigan HD enthusiasts..

Its been a long time coming.I personally have owned an HDTV for 2 and a half years now, and Im sure there are others that have waited even longer..

I wish I could get a more specific answer out of FOX when I call for when they are going HD, but they only keep telling me "sometime this fall." I thought somebody else on here said something about late November. Anybody hear anything new?

I think it would be a small miracle if it happened today..The pixelation on CBSHD via Charter yestersay made the NFL game almost impossible to watch..Whats it been now, about 14 months of this problem from Charter?

I sure hope that someday when WWTV does boost their power that we dont find out this problem is actually a WWTV problem and not a Charter problem..

Well it doesnt look good for CBS just got this message from them, "We are still waiting for a construction permit from the FCC. If we dont get it soon the project will have to wait for spring." Sounds like spring to me, great.

I give up, cant belive I can only pick up one HD channel, sometimes I can pick up ABC out of Green Bay but not lately. I have doubts about ABC and PBS and FOX too, I'm thinking there waiting for next summer as well. Really want to cancel cable, well maybe still will and just do Netflix with my HD DVD player which really puts out some nice pictures.

If I wasnt such a sports nut I would cancel all broadcast HD and just watch everything on HD DVD too...

What an awesome piece of HD hardware that HD DVD player is! I dont watch anything on broadcast HD anymore other than sports..Ever..

I use my HD DVD player for all movies and TV shows now.. The HD DVD's are simply amazing..But what actually impresses me most about the HD DVD player is the quality of regular ol SD DVD's..Outstanding

P.S. If you want all the network HD channels get Dish and "move".. I sub to Atlanta HD local in this manner..And then I have a Charter Cable Card for Charter HD on top of this..I use Charter only as a back up at this point..A much needed back up since Dish has some problems here and there..

I too only watch movies from HD DVD player and get my movies from Netflix(HD one at least),I used to think HBO and Showtime had good picture quality for till this HD DVD player we got. But my wife loves her CSI and Law and Order and a few others from ABC, and myself I too like to watch sports(Lions) and wouldnt mind some Austin City Limits from PBS too. But have a feeling will be waiting a long time to see it in HD. Oh well what can ya do. Just dont know why they would leave there signal so low, doesnt make sense, I mean its on, why not put it at full now,I know just quit crying now and give my money to Charter.

Hey Guffy. I finally noticed the macroblocking, or whatever, on Charter and CBS yesterday. It was very noticable during the football games.

As for HD-DVD, I can only envy you guys.

well I couldnt take it no more, I called ABC, and well, they said that they hoped in be in HD on Charter by the end of Oct, and I couldnt tell if they will be in HD over the air then too, but he did say thay wont be full power till Feb 2007. I have a feeling we wont see FOX till next year either or PBS, not going to bother them. I was really waiting for this month, about two months ago it was sounding promising.

Yep, its been that way for way over a year now..

When I first got into the HD game about 2 years ago that was the best HD channel by far, never had that problem..Then one day the problem showed up and its never gone away since..

Ive had Charter over to my house a good 6 times over this issue, but all they ever do is stumble around like clueless idiots..They insist on pretending its a problem at my house everytime they come over here when clearly it isnt.. Trying to explain to them that its an engineering issue of some sort is like talking to a brick wall..

Last time I talked to someone at ABC I was told they would be up and running on Charter by the end of February

They didnt say they hoped either, they said they would be..

@#$%!. Going on 2 years with my HD television and I have yet to watch a single thing in HD. Depressing. If anyone has any info on the ABC signal out of Kalkaska and the Fox 59 out of Vanderbilt that is supossedly operating, please post. Those are really my only hopes for OTA HD since I am in Boyne City.

well when I called ABC this mourning the engineer there said that ABC HD should be on Charter sometime this month(ya right charters been saying that for years) he was not clear on whether the poor signal they have out now will be in HD or not, but he did say they will be full power in feb 2007, which is differnt from what I heard on this forum before, although I do have charter right now was hoping to dich it , but guess not now. Thinking on calling PBS but I think I'll hear the from them too, altho they told me back in July I think thats they "will be in HD this fall" I have my doubts tho

Wow, what a crappy day for HD in northern Michigan.

FOX keeps pushing back their HD date, and now aren't even promising HD??

CBS repeatedly lied to people about the date, and now are blaming a construction permit.

ABC is now going back on what WGTU's president is quoted as saying on the radio, and now aren't going to be full power until February?

I second the sentiment that we live in an area that is way behind the times technologically. Heck, I can't even get high-speed internet where I live.

don't know obout anybody else but I got a big boost in the signal meter this afternoon till late evening. I had been getting a 75, for most of the evening I was pulling a mid 90,s(even better than 7&4 low 90,s).It might have been only a system test or something went wrong because now 11:00 pm its back to 75.

Well looks like yesterday signal boost wasn,t for real back in the mid 70s on the signal meter(although its a steady 75 and no droping in and out of signal)

Guffy I feel your pain when it comes to Charter techs. It took me 8 plus months just to get my local yokel of a tech to replace the 14 year old coax coming to the house from the pole. And the genius wonders why I kept on calling back about signal issues. Most of my signal issues have been resolved I just have the occasional bout of tiling on the 100's. I'm impressed they actually got 5mb internet now up here. I've had it since I got the little notice in with my bill. I still want my big city 9-10 mb! And would it hurt for Charter to get a DVR that works with more than 80 gigs of storage! Oh yeah, I'll take more HD whenever they give it to me. I've actually been impressed they have added this many channels so far.

You are so lucky...I'm writing this on a connection speed of 50.6 Kpbs. Charter has cable here but not internet service, which irritates me greatly.

50.6kKbps! That is luxurious compared to the 26.4Kbps that I had to live with for 4 years after I came home from college spoiled with a 10MB cable modem. Thankfully I have DSL now but it is only 384Kbps Up and Down. Not great but definitely liveable considering where I live.
