The VP/GM set me up with the head engineers email address and phone#..

I sent an email to him and I havent heard back just yet, but I only sent it just last night..

I will post back when (if) I hear back..

The VP/GM seems very adamant about helping though, and he was very apologetic..We'll see what happens..

Just for the record tvb, you do or do not see the problems with FOX and CBS HD via Charter? Cant remember..

29.4 sounds scary..Does this mean they are leaving room for 29.2 and 29.3? My God, I sure hope not..Not sure if Ive ever heard of an HD channel with 3 subchannels other than PBS..Sounds like an HD nightmare to me..[quote=guffy1]

WWJ, CBS in Detroit shows 62-1 through 62-5. Thankfully they aren't used. I only remember their use during the NCAA basketball playoffs when they would show multiple games.

if your talking about artifacts such as macroblocking and the dancing grass on live sports? yep I see them on all the HD channels. not all that impressed with the HD channels ever since I got my HD DVD player, I also see the same artifacts over the air from 7&4, cant comment on CBS cant get them over the air, I will say that when I do get Green Bays ABC it looked alot better than 7&4 as far as artifacts go, and once over the summer I got Milwaukee's locals for a few hours and they looked very good too, and most of them were doing sub channels too, so I dont know whos at fault our locals or charter? , and I do see alot of artifacts from Discovery too, but would say NBC looks the worst on my end from charter.

No the problems Im talking about are more than just common macroblocking/pixelation thats seen on all Charter HD channels.. These common problems are a result of Charter rate shaping, and they will prob never go away unless Charter stops rate shaping (which they wont)..The problems Im speaking of are beyond the common rate shaping issues..

I described the problems in post #409..

Nevermind, I answered my own question--looks like it is. I'm getting both ABC HD and the SD version of the CW. Great!

Glad to see Northern Michigan OTA finally getting some love.

I haven't been home to check yet, is ABC HD on Charter or just OTA?

Who wants bet that when it ends up on Charter it will be all glitched out just like CBS and FOX?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that when a cable operator puts up a locals HD channel they have to put on all sub channels too, if this is right does this mean that when Charter puts up WGTU will we have two CW channels on our system then, one analog and one digital?

Not sure about your question tvb..

What I am sure about is this new ABC HD OTA fricking rocks!

This Michigan game looks awesome, even with the CW subchannel.. Best looking HD football game Ive seen all season.

Ive been comapring our new ABC HD OTA vs DISH Atlanta ABC HD..There is absolutely no comparison..Our new OTA blows it away!

Now if we could get that FOX HD OTA going..Im entirely sick of watching FOX HD break up every minute or so on Charter..

By the way, I did get an email back from the head engineer at Northern Michigan Charter and he says they are aware of the FOX HD issue and are working on it..We'll see..

As far as CBS HD goes, he claims he is going to come to my house personally and check it out..Again, we'll see

I sure hope that WGTU-DT isn't at full power yet, and has an updgrade coming. Some days I get a signal at around 56% from them in Lake City, other days I don't get a blip. I'd love to see ABC in HD! I get CBS at 99%, NBC at 65% and PBS at 94% consistantly.

Yeah no kidding, like ESPN2 HD thats been available to all providers for close to 2 years now..

How about FSD HD I wonder? You would think all cable companies would be getting that ASAP, but right now not even Comcast of Detroit carries it, only Directv..Crazy

Hosnestly, those are the only 2 channels I could care less about..My HD DVD players replaces the need for any non sports national HD channels..

Does anyone know if the holdup with ABC HD coming to Charter is technical or legal?

I receive HD breakup when using a TV antenna !
ABC is much worse than NBC, CBS & FOX,
It gets so bad on ABC sometimes, I have to change to dish network and give up on watching HD !
I also receive some break up on dish network, Altho I do not have a HD receiver !
Breakup on dish network is only audio ?
I sure hope the networks get this fixed ! ! !

ABC is not at full power yet, I was told by the engineer there that sometime in Feb 07, but you never know Ive been told alot of things from these engineers that turn out to be false. Was told by CBS that they would be full power Oct 1st, never panned out so, who knows when.

ABC is up on channel 788. SD stuff isn't stretched so far.

None of the OTA SD material has been stretched..Unlike FOX and NBC, very nice!

Hey, gotta hand it to Charter..We now have all the HD nets here in Northern Michigan! And the probs with FOXHD appear to be fixed...Now if we can just get some work on CBS HD we'll be all set..Tx Charter!

I wonder why we keep getting no HD on Fox 33 for shows that are clearly supposed to be HD, like Prison Break for example tonight, followed by Justice..And there are 2 logos on the screen too, the SD logo and that huge obnoxious HD logo that they use..

This is the 3rd time Ive noticed whole blocks of weekday primetime programming all in non HD..Anyone know how to get ahold of their engineering department?

EDIT: They just switched it over to HD around 9:20 PM..Like 10 minutes after I called and left a message on the operators voice mail..I wonder if someone just isnt flipping the HD switch?

Is that giant blue 'FOX' logo from the network or from WFQX?

CBS has done that before too so has NBC and when I emailed them they said their computer were down, I guess the switch is automated in some way, so maybe thats whats happening.

Im not sure why the WFQX logo is so huge...The logo for Atlanta and NY FOX HD is about the half the size of that one, and its white..It sits in the extreme lower right too, not half way towards the middle..

That FOX logo WFQX is using is one the worst Ive ever seen..

I have been getting a lot of pixelization and audio dropouts on Charter HD channels lately. Is this Charter wide or something wrong with my reception only? Everything seemed fine up until about two weeks ago, then this started occuring. I thought maybe the weather had something to do with it, but now I'm not sure. Last night Survivor and CSI were almost unwatchable. I had to put on the closed captioning so I could understand what was being said. It's frustrating.
