I think that you are right about KRCB going to low VHF. This would indicate that the UHF go off the air price in San Francisco was $100 million. I think that no Class As in San Francisco market or Sacramento market were needed for the auction, since each one only affected one market, whereas the full power stations tied up both markets. KKPM-CD stayed on channel 28, and so that makes me think that channel 28 Class As in the San Francisco market stayed on 28, too.

I just noticed that KQED has replaced Vme with World on 54.5. I don't know when that happened. I searched this forum for "Vme", "V-me", and "54.5" and didn't find any previous postings about the change.

I'm surprised that they'd drop Vme in the South Bay, although it always seemed like an odd channel to me; I swear I saw commercial breaks when I dialed by occasionally. The good news for those of us who have difficulty getting the signal from Sutro is that now we get World via antenna. (Yeah, like everything else on channel 54 it's only SD, but it's still good quality.)

I can't get 9.3 to see whether World is also still on that channel.

If all the NorCal Class A channel 28 stations are staying on 28 then wouldn't it seem likely that KMMW-LD will get to stay on 28?

I'd be happy with that as KMMW is a standard candle here that I use to make sure my antennas are working okay when all the other stations are going crazy due to atmospheric conditions. It's close by, strong but not too strong. I'm still hoping that KUVS channel shares with KTFK and goes of channel 18. Then I could get rid of my channel 18 notch filters.

If KRCB goes to channel 5 then I'd probably be able to receive it. Channel 23 is a mess here now; KEZT, KRCB and KMUV analog all on the same channel. This prevents me from receiving KRCB 99.9% of the time.

Chuck

I will be very interested in the KMTP payout, they stated when they tried to take over KCSM that their only money coming in was from cable companies that carried their signal.

They got KMTP from KQED when KQED chose to not put a signal on the air and the transmitter was a gift also, but I cannot find words to that effect. Their paid staff is close to Zero causing problems not to be addressed.

Quote:
KQED held onto the station until 1988 when the FCC revoked the license, ruling that it had been off the air too much to remain in the hands of the KQED ownership (KQED kept KQEC off the air for most of 1972 through 1977, and then again for several months in 1979-80)
Where will the money go will be very interesting.

9.3 World comes in fine down here in San Jose. Can't check 54.5 cause I deleted that sometime ago.

KMMW eats up the majority of the coverage of KKPM over Sacramento. When I switch KKPM-CD over to ATSC 3.0, I'll choose the most robust error correction so as to be able to claim back most of the coverage of Sacramento. Also, I am planning to switch KKPM-CD to a lower gain antenna with elliptical polarization to cement coverage over Sacramento even more. It'd be nice if a Class A to the south of KMMW was repacked to channel 28 so that KMMW doesn't eat up so much of KKPM's coverage. The first owner of KKPM said that when it was as analog you could pick it up continually from Red Bluff all the way to the southern edge of the Sacramento area. I'm hoping for the "glory days" of KKPM again, and ATSC 3.0 will definitely help!

Blessings,
Keith

V-Me is going cable-only. It's dropping all its OTA affiliates in the coming months.

The PSIP changed Jan 16th, but I don't know if they changed the programing at the same time or not.

For you, perhaps. It would depend on where one lives and what kind of antenna one has.

I can get KQED if I move my antenna just right, but I rarely care enough to do so.

Still waiting to see KQED/H/T! I think we're going to have to wait until April. I didn't hear anything from the Sacramento stations except for KVIE.

The KPOP channel can now be seen and heard on KMMC 40.3 (or 40.1 depending on your tuner).

It's not a straight simulcast with the KPOP channel on KMTP 32.6.

Strange, KMMC VC 40 RF 40 has NO PSIP 11:23 AM 2/17/2017. My new Sony HDTV produces no picture on 40 (No Sub channel shown) but my better HDHomeRun will stream a KPOP video to VLC Media Player so I can see the KPOP bug.

A sign that KMTP will be toast soon.

32.1 ARTS FREE, no money coming in
32.2 NO Video so no money coming in
32.4 NO Video so no money coming in
32.5 ARTS FREE, so no money coming in
32.6 KPOP They may not pay anything soon

So KMTP's money from Cable companies will end soon.

They must be going off the air.

With the successful test of MPG4 I sure think that KQED Inc. will take the $100M for KQEH going off the air and add several 16:9 streams to KQED.

KQED members may be getting the word soon. One additional benefit for paying KQED Inc., their magazine and being able to voice your opinion to the BOD.

Thanks to OTnA and Dave for update info for my station lists... OTna for the KMMC update here and Dave sent me a nice email with updates on two stations in Monterey.

40 finally got rid of the color bars!

Anyone know what Spanish language network uses the logo below? It's being shown on KFMS 47.1 in Sacramento. The vertical bar is not part of the logo.

2028 + 1

There have been several changes to station programming recently. I just updated my DTV Channel List that's in Virtual Channel order and added a new column for Post Repack Channel.

Before I update the other lists, would everyone please review this list and let me know if you see any other changes needed or any errors. Also let me know if Post Repack Channel is a good description.

http://www.choisser.com/sfonair.html

Thanks

I have to admit, I wouldn't have expected that.

Even though the FCC has extended valid construction permits for LPTV stations, I think nearly all those stations you've listed as "Not on the Air yet" will never be built. I'll bet most of those CPs have been abandoned by the holders but remain in the database. There are a couple of standouts. KMCE 43 is already on the air except they're using K46LG. I read once but can't remember why they did this and didn't use the KMCE call sign. KEXT had a CP for Mt. Oso before moving to Fremont. I think they got bought and the new owners applied for and received a new CP and moved the station. They're not going back to Mt. Oso. I don't know why the old CP was not cancelled.

KMUV-LP is channel sharing with KION. The stations are co-owned. You already have it in your list.

At some point down the road there'll be a new list of LPTV CPs when the repack is all sorted out.

I have deleted all of the stations with CPs that aren't on the air from my updated list and will do the same for the other one.

Thanks to all who have sent me updates, and thanks for your comments on the term "Post Repack Channel". So far all of you think that term is good.

I'll give a couple more days for comments and updates, then I'll update the other lists.
