rescanned to find TBS HD (which is great by the way), but now I can't find NBC HD or FOX HD. There is no more sub-channels listed under qAM 109.

Help...need these channels before Sunday football!

I found NBC HD on 109.1, but can't find Fox HD anywhere. I care about NBC the most as that's where Heroes is at, but does anyone know where Fox HD went?

after rescanned found foxhd on 109.2 - if you can't find it, rescan. The signal is kinda weak. Anyone find Discovery channel? I found one on 107.8 but it has no audio. I think there might be another channel for discovery with audio...

Hmm-- is everybody getting TBS HD? I am not finding it, either with a full scan, or by manually plugging in the QAM address.

Hey Everyone, New to the forum, and new to RCN.

Quick question - Does RCN carry FSN2?

It is mostly used as an overflow channel for the local hockey teams when they are playing at the same time. Using google and team websites I have found that at one point RCN carried FSN2 on channel 40 however to my best knowledge that seems to be a spanish channel. Also the game im looking for doesnt show up on the guide anywhere for tonight (to my knowledge), however from experience the guides are usually unreliable. Anyways any light anyone could shed on the issue would be much appreciated.

Went to watch ALCS Game 5 tonight on FOX HD and all of a sudden during the pregame show the signal dropped. I then tried to change the channel to another one of the network HD channels and it just returned a blank screen.

I've been using my TVs QAM tuner to pick up all the network HD channels and a few others, but suddenly they're gone tonight. I rescanned and after the rescan all the network HD channels were gone.

Is anyone else experiencing this tonight? Thanks

I seem to have lost CBSHD, NBCHD, FOXHD, and ABCHD. Did anyone else?

Yep I just posted that...I still get everything else though. Are you using QAM or just RCN's HD package?

Can someone NOT using QAM let us know how their network HD channels are working? I get the feeling RCN may have just decided to encrypt their networks...

I'm watching through cable cards and it looks like some sort of failure at the RCN headend. It is not just the ClearQAM HD channels - Discovery HD Theatre, HDNet and more are out - but some stations are working fine.

I'm using the cable box and I'm not getting any HD.

Seems like an RCN issue.

Well i just rescanned and still no luck...CBSHD, ABCHD, NBCHD, and FOXHD are all still down. I've never paid for cable TV service that struggled to provide their service as much as RCN. If it were thunderstorming or there was a major snow storm then maybe I'd be a little more understanding...but RCN's service seems simply unreliable.

I'm using the RCN set-top box and I lost a bunch of channels last night also. Was watching the Rutgers/USF game on ESPN HD and the signal dropped. Had to switch over to regular ESPN to watch the game but I also lost some standard channels like Comedy Central.

Can anyone confirm these are working now?

RCN is reporting they were aware of the outage and that it has been resolved. Still haven't had a chance to rescan...but hopefully everything is up and working again. Here's the link with the outage report:

Discovery HD Theatre is not available in Clear QAM - you need a cable box or cable cards to receive it.

Animal Planet HD is not available on RCN. Be careful about assuming that just because RCN carries the SD version of a channel, they'll carry the HD version too - THEY DON'T (to many of our collective dismay).

You should look at RCN's channel lineup page -

MY9HD, WPIXHD, and ESPN and ESPN2 HD?

These football games look amazing in HD.

Yes, yes, yes, no, no.

The Clear QAM HDTV channels are WCBSDT, WNBCDT, WNYWDT, WABCDT, WWORDT, WPIXDT, WNETDT, TNTHD, TBSHD, NATGEOHD, YESNYHD, and SNYHD. The rest of the HD offerings require extra hardware and fees.

This link no longer mentions the HD Tier in NYC and LHV:

rcn.com/cabletv/hdtv/index.php

(see google cache for the previous info)

So does that mean all the below channels are now open to anyone with a HD converter?

Discovery HD Theatre
ESPN HDTV
HD Net
HD Net Movies

RCN's selection of HDTV programming is pitiful! I see so much more HDTV programming out there and RCN carries very little of it.
In addition to that that have the audacity to *CHARGE US* for HDTV while other cable providers give it for free.
I can't wait for Verizon FIOS to hit NYC so I can get rid of them!!!

Hello,

I know I am a noob to the forum though I just moved to NYC and upgraded my TV to one with a QAM tuner built in. It scanned all the channels and found a ton of different networks and I am wondering if anyone has a more or less complete and up-to-date list as to what channel is what. I was reading through this forum, which is the only place I have found anything, and none of the channels still match what I am finding. Right now all I really know is that 109.2 is FoxHD since I am watching the football game .

Thanks for your help
Adam

Adam,

I've found the HD Homerun (a QAM tuner for PC) to have a pretty complete list of QAM channels in the area. Just enter your zip code at their site and it should bring up a list of the known QAM channels:
