Please give me some feedback...

We've had the ABC, FOX, and PBS affiliates on DTV in Erie since October. The NBC and CBS stations owned by Lilly Broadcasting were recently added to DirecTV. All these Erie HD channels look really good on DTV.

However, we still don't have the CW affiliate on 35.2 nor the two PBS sub-channels, 54.2 and 54.3 on DTV yet, but these stations are only broadcast in SD over the air anyways.

Anyone have a clue as to what's going on with these 2 stations? I noticed earlier in the day neither was broadcasting a HiDef signal and just assumed someone forgot to flip a switch (as has happened too many times to count), but here it is now well into prime time and both are still in stunning standard definition both on cable and over the air. Another high point of Lilly Broadcasting for the Erie market. I hope the DirecTV customers are getting better service since I can't imagine having to pay extra for this crap.

TW is offering me their phone service for $6.60/month - no contract and 30 day guarantee. I'm currently paying Verizon about $65. Those of you with this service from TW, any reasons I shouldn't do it? Do they tend to raise the price pretty soon after getting it?

We got my brother-in-law TW phone in Erie. Just local service is about $22 a month total. He doesn't have regular land line service available where he's living, but does have cable television. It works great, with sound that I sometimes think is better than our Verizon land line. His caller id comes over his tv screen. The only downside I can think of is that you lose service when there's a power failure, just like your cable tv. That's a great price they're offering you. Ask how long the offer is good for, usually 1 year for most of there special offers.

MLB Extends Free Preview of Baseball Games
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (March 30, 2011) -- Major League Baseball this season is giving fans an unprecedented 11-day free preview of its MLB Extra Innings pay package.

DIRECTV, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, Bright House, Cablevision, Bresnan, Charter are among the TV providers that will offer the free preview, which runs from March 31 (Opening Day) to April 10.

If viewers purchase the full-season plan prior to April 11, the cost will be $179. After April 11, it will go up to $199. (Note: The cost might vary depending upon the TV provider.)

The package delivers up to 80 games per week with at least a few dozen in high-def. (Note: In the past, DIRECTV has offered more games in HD than the average cable operator.)

Normally, the free preview only extends through the first week of the regular season. But Opening Day this year begins on a Thursday so MLB has decided to stretch the free preview through the following week.

New this year: Some TV providers will offer both the home and visiting team's broadcasts so the viewer can choose which one to watch.

I was surprized on the ROOT deal but, just watching the game on fox 66 being in digital but not wide screen, really blows my mind. I went to TWC a few weeks from Dtv, so that I could get the local Erie Stations, now I found that hardly any of the MLB EI games are in WSHD, while most all are on Dtv. Please Erie Station Mgrs. don't we rate WSHD much as other cities get on cable ?

The change to ROOT was announced a few months ago for the RSNs that DirecTV owns... such as the former FSN Pittsburgh.

Heads up. You may see a few more OTA channels from Canada appear shortly. The Canadian DTV conversion is about 11 weeks away. Some of these signals are sure to cross Lake Erie.

It's been almost a month since this thread was updated and I want to say WJET's newscasts will be going HD eventually, but due to a money issue not just yet.
And their new set is a very nice update.

Hi All:

WJET-24/24 was coming in here in metro Detroit around midnight last night as it occasionally has in the past (first time seeing it in digital for me, as I put up a new outside antenna last weekend). Looking at the FCC database, it seems that WJET (at 523 kW / 304 m) is the second most powerful Erie station (and perhaps the only one we will receive here in digital), with WFXP-22/66 showing 850 kW / 286 m; WSEE-16/35 showing only 75 kW / 271 m; and WICU-12/12 showing only 5.4 kW / 307 m.

We have two other 22's here (WNEM Bay City, MI in digital and CIII Stevenson, Ontario in analog, soon to be digital) blocking reception of WFXP, although I remember receiving it once or twice from here in the analog days.

Wondering if anyone knows whether WQLN-50/54 has completed its upgrade, or will shortly, from its licensed 39.1 kW / 271 m to its CP of 300 kW / 278 m. I believe that our local CBEFT-54 analog in Windsor, Ontario (which used to block WQLN for us) is slated to go off the air on August 31 (due to Windsor being a mandatory digital market and I believe CBC is not converting that station to digital). I'll have to try for WQLN next, although I occasionally get WEAO 50/49 Akron, Ohio as well.

I presume that at least a few of the Detroit stations occasionally skip over that way also...

Edit: One more thing I noticed - aren't WEAO-50/49 Akron, Ohio and WQLN kind of close together geographically to both be on 50?
